Jeremy Renner Addresses Rumors That Hawkeye Dies in Avengers: Age of Ultron
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 08.28.2014

Warning: Probable spoilers for Avengers: Age of Ultron follow. Either that, or Jeremy Renner is misleading us.

Ever since Avengers: Age of Ultron was announced and particularly when production began, there has been speculation that Hawkeye may die in the film. There hasn't been any confirmation or even reliable sources reporting this news, mind; it's only been theories due to the fact that the sharpshooting Clint Barton is perhaps the most expendable of the team and Joss Whedon has a known reputation for killing characters. (Ironically, it wasn't his call to kill Agent Coulson in The Avengers, but c'est la vie.)

Jeremy Renner has decided to put a stop to the rumors in a new interview with Larry King. When asked by King if he dies in the upcoming film, Renner gave a definitive answer, something that is rare out of a Marvel film. "No, no," he said. "No, I don't die. I think they want to keep me around for a while."

Obviously Renner could be playing a little misdirection here, but the previously-reported suggestion that Hawkeye may be in Captain America 3 seems to support this theory. You can see the interview below. The film opens on May 1st, 2015.
