Who will play James Brown?
Spike Lee appeared at the American Film Institute lunch on Friday and told film columnist Anne Thompson that the two most heavily rumored candidates for the role of James Brown in his new biopic, Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy, aren't being considered for the role.
Murphy won a Golden Globe last night for his performance as a Brown-like singer in Dreamgirls while Foxx won an Oscar for his role as Ray Charles in Ray.
Lee did not shoot down the Samuel L. Jackson rumors though. Lee and Jackson had a falling out back in 1998. Lee took Jackson to task for starring in Quentin Tarantino's Jackie Brown, a movie Lee considered to be racist. Jackson responded by saying that the film was good and that Lee hadn't made a good movie in years.
