411 Box Office Report: Superbad Debuts #1

Big debut for new comedy...
Superbad debuted #1 at the box office this weekend, earning $31.2 million. The film also had the highest per theater average of any in the top ten with $10,583 per theater. With only a budget of $20 million, the film is well on its way to being very profitable.
Rush Hour 3 fell one spot to #2 in its second weekend, earning $21.8 million to raise its two week total to $88.1 million.
The Bourne Ultimatum fell one spot to #3 in its third weekend, earning $18.9 million to raise its total gross to $163.8 million.
The Simpsons Movie fell one spot to #4 with $6.6 million, bumping its total gross to $165.1 million in four weeks.
The Invasion debuted at #5 with $6 million.
Stardust fell two spots to #6 in its second weekend, earning $5.2 million to improve its total gross to $19 million.
Hairspray fell two spots to #7 with $4.2 million, raising its total gross to $100.5 million in five weeks.
Underdog fell two spots to #8 with $3.6 million, improving its three week total to $31.6 million.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix fell one spot to #9 with $3.54 million, raising its total gross to $278.6 million in six weeks.
I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry rounded out the top ten with $3.5 million, improving its total gross to $110.3 million in five weeks.
