Walters admits to affair with politician during 70s...
Barbara Walters tells Oprah in an episode that will air on Tuesday that she had an affair with Republican Senator Edward Brooke, the first African-American to be popularly elected to the Senate, for several years during the 70s. Brooke was married during his relationship with Walters.
Walters said that both she and Brooke knew that public knowledge of their affair could ruin their careers at the time, so they kept it secret.
Walters said she was 'infatuated' by Brooke: "He was exciting. He was brilliant. It was exciting times in Washington."
Their affair ended in 1978 after Walters was told that her relationship with Brooke could cost him his upcoming election. He did end up losing that election, and ended up divorcing his wife later on.

ya gotta love the moral authority that is the Republican Party. if they aren't

BTW Barbara Walters was divorced, so even though she was engaged in a
relationship with the senator, he was the only one who was having an affair.

in turmoil because everybody gets hung up on who's in what party.We know the
