[TV] Family Guy Creator Set To Become Highest Paid Writer/Producer
Posted by Ashish on 05.05.2008

Seth MacFarlane has reached a new deal with FOX that will make him the highest paid TV writer/producer. His new deal is said to make him worth over $100 million.

MacFarlane will be responsible for Family Guy, American Dad, and the upcoming Cleveland Show. Of course, Family Guy is the real earner as the franchise is now worth over $1 billion.

I just threw up a little reading this.

Now all he has to do is become funny again.

i dont understand it. i never watched american dad but family guy is not funny
at all. to me all the jokes go on for too long and any humor in them is quickly
drawn out until they become obnoxious. i dont see the popularity in it

100 million... jesus, nice work McFarlane going from a show that was pulled to
100 million.

Cleveland Show = *prediction* EPIC FAIL

You've got to give him credit. Brings a show back from the dead, builds a solid
following and spawns two new shows from it. As much as I dislike everything he
produces, can't argue the guy is doing something right.

I didn't care for Family Guy when it aired originally, but I liked it a lot when
I watched the first three seasons on DVD. Then after it came back it went back
to being unfunny. I wish it had stayed a lost/cult classic. At least that way
we would have been spared American Dad, which I can not stand.

Matt Stone and Trey Parker just threw up a little... neigh, a lot. But its
ok... ten years from now when South Park is remembered as one of the best shows
in TV history, people will have to be reminded what the hell "Family
Guy" was...

This guy is worth over $100 million now? I have a deal for Fox. Give me a
quarter of his new deal and I will guarantee I can write 20 minutes worth of
pop culture "jokes" that make up each episode of Family Guy. I am
sure Cleveland Show will recycle the same gags and a team of lobotomized
monkeys apparently writes American Dad, so they really wouldn't need me for
those shows.

It's just suprising to me looking back at when I first saw McFarlane's work on
World Premeir Toons on Cartoon Network, to think he's worth so much.

It pleases me, since I'm a fan, but I hope he doesn't over-extend himself... or
get too self-absorbed.

American Dad is funnier than Family Guy. Now American Dad isn't funny, but it
doesn't have that grating annoyance level and the holier than thou attitude.
but i know it will soon.

All you guys who dont like Family Guy are on crack especially Steveo. American
Dad sucks. Family Guy is WAAAAAAYYY better that AD and the Simpsons. Now thats
a show thats lost its touch.

I remember reading something about MacFarlane where he said his college
professor told him that his toilet humor will never help him in his animation
career.

Anyway I'm not a huge fan of Family Guy (I enjoy some episodes here and there
but that's about it) but good luck to him. I can't hate, Family Guy has a HUGE
fan base seriously school every monday is always "Did you see last night's
Family Guy?"

Here's to hoping the Clevland show is any good

I've always thought that Family Guy was funny as hell...but the only way that
the "Cleveland" show will do any good is if Seth pushes the envelope
further that he already has!

Family Guy hasn't been good in a couple years... Way too political and one
sided.

it's about damn time. family guy is one of the greatest shows ever. it has
created characters that whether u like themn or not have become culture
mainstays and icons. the guy is not an asshole and has maintained his humility,
even when his show was cancelled and he was relegated to adult swim. he
persevered and must've done something right cause fanboys like me made a
billion dollar industry like fox actually eat their words, apologize for
messing up, and actually brought him back. up urs rupert murdoch, up urs wanna
be show critics, and up urs seth mcfarlane haters. seth is livin the big life
as he never gave up on hois dream while most of u are still livin in your moms
basement awaiting the chance for some poor drunk girl to fall down ur steps so
that u can finally lose ur virginiy to her unconscious body. love u seth, love
u family guy. every soldier here in iraq loves u guys and its ur funny ass
shows that keep our spirits up. u deserve it. u guys rock!!!!! death to all who
blaspheme the name of stewart gilligan griffin!!!!!

omg thats a lot i want to be on the show

This is great news, Family guy is easily the funniest, Smartest and most
creative show on Tv, the writing is simply incredible, this is a good day for
Tv, as people like him usually get chewed up by the corporate blood suckers,
all you bashers don't even watch the show lol, and obviously your numbers are
very very few, so a big who cares to what you think LOL, the majority that do
watch are smart enough to get & understand the nuances and Subtle jokes
that most just don't see or get thats why the very few of you don't find it
funny, or you are all just too stuck up to allow yourself to just enjoy it for
what it is... South park is simply too predicatble, 10 years from now people
will still be watching new Family guy episodes and some of the 2 or 3 south
park fans left will still be writing letters to the network asking them to
revive that stale show. and Simpsons is just too tired now although still
somewhat watchable, Embrace all that is Seth, Praise be the Seth, Seth be with
you..Amen... LOL!!

- And the whiners will now flame
