[Movies] Thor Looking For Director
Posted by Ashish on 05.08.2008
Latest on another Marvel film...
Director Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake) is no longer going to direct Thor for Marvel. Marvel Studios is now looking for a new director for the film. Screenwriter Mark Protosevich is currently polishing up the script.
"It's very much a Marvel superhero story but against the backdrop of nothing you've seen before," Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said of Thor.
Yes so good that Director Matthew Vaughn dropped out after hyping it for over a
year he was directing !! That doesn't bood very well for this moive especially
since Marvel was quoted in say no idrector woudl be sought after until a script
was finilazed -
Does this soudn final too anyone !!?

Normally I would agree with you, but the reason Vaughn is not attached to direct
anymore is because Marvel's holding deal ran out, not necessarily because of his
lack of faith in the movie.

Get Peter Jackson! Thor could be an awesome trilogy. Blood and Thunder, The
Reigning, and Ragnarok.

My first thought was to give it to J. Michael Straczynski. He's writing the
comic right now so at this moment he's probably more familiar with Thor than
anyone, he's experienced in film as a writer (I'm told he wrote the upcoming
Silver Surfer movie's screenplay for Alex Proyas) and director, and you know
he'll give it the respect it deserves.
The only thing about that is I think he's on the outs with Marvel right now
after they screwed him with Spider-Man. Which is a damn shame for many
reasons.

Too bad about Vaughn. And yes get Peter Jackson but we all know how he's
struggling to find work and a Marvel movie would really boost his career.
/sarcasm
I'm not sure who would be good to direct Thor. From the description sounds
like hey are placing it in Asgard and we don't see a lot of fantasy directors
around anymore. Whoever they get is gonna have a hard time because its probably
the least accessible of The Avengers they have planned.
