[Movies] DiCaprio To Play Atari
Posted by Ashish on 06.07.2008

Leonardo DiCaprio is set to play video game icon and Atari founder Nolan Bushnell in Atari.

Bushnell was an engineering student, puzzle-lover and game enthusiast (chess, Go, early computer games) who went from fixing broken pinball machines to launching Atari Corp., a video game manufacturer, in the early '70s. Its first product was a little game called Pong that transfixed kids in suburban rec rooms across the country and led to hundreds of millions of dollars worth of video game sales. Within a few years, he sold the company to Warner Communications for $28 million.

Fuck that - i guess being a sleazy cut throat thief in the gaming industry is what will win him an Oscar !

He should be portraying Ralph Baer

After reading about the start of Atari this could actually be a pretty entertaining little movie.

I used to think Dicaprio was nothing but a pretty boy queer bait, but after watching him play Howard Hughes he is starting to reach that Deniro and Nicholson stratosphere.

Ralph Baer is the creator of Pong and videogames. They are still ripping him off to this day by declining to give him his due credit.

Stop your f'n whining about Ralph Bear. Maybe if any of you did some REAL research you would know that when Bushnell and Bear finally met face to face years later, Bushnell publically referred to him as the "FATHER OF VIDEO GAMES"

I equal ratings, I agree with you...I wrote Leo off as pretty boy scum after Titanic, but after seeing him in The Aviator, Gangs of New York, The Departed and Blood Diamond, he's quickly become one of my favorite actors.

this could be interesting. dicaprio is a great actor, and the story is one that i'd care enough to watch.
