[Movies] Fincher's Heavy Metal Remake Could Be Off

Paramount drops film...
David Fincher's planned remake of the 1981 film, Heavy Metal, could be off as Paramount has dropped the film.
The update was to have been a part-animated, part-live-action feature, with different directors (including Fincher himself) helming eight to ten short films based around the concept.
Paramount dropped the film because they thought the film was too risqué for mainstream audiences. Fincher is trying to shop it around to other studios now.
I was a fan of the magazine and LOVED the first animated feature. The second one and the video game were basically Kevin Eastman giving his Penthouse Pet wife something to work on, CRAP all around.
Trying to "remake" THIS is like having sex with your sister if your Nick Hogan. Sure it might be fun but can you imagine what the offspring might look like.

Why do a remake when there is so many opportunities to do either prequels or sequels?
I would be worried that music, which effectively was the driving force behind the first one, would be emo crap and we would have a bunch of anime guys crying about their lipstick color

yeah i remake not sure about that but dropping the idea entirely seems stupid on paramounts part though !
Heavy Metal had a following and still has a cult following today !
make more ! And i don't mean the mess that was HEAVY METAL 2000!

HUge fan of Heavy Metal (I even liked F.A.K.K.2) and I hate to see this movie getting dropped, hopefully somebody with some balls can pick it up (Maple, Weinberg's). Not sure if Heavy Metal needs to be "remade" but some new stuff would be awesome.

It wasn't a remake it was supposed to be almost like a true sequel to the first one with different director's doing different short animated films.
This would work great as a direct to DVD feature but I think Fincher wants a theaterical release and that's probably where Paramount balked.
