[Movies] Update On Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland Posted by Ashish on 07.24.2008
Lead actress found...
Aussie actress Mia Wasikowska (HBO's In Treatment) is in final talks to star in Tim Burton's upcoming Alice in Wonderland film.
The film will be an update of Lewis Carrol's classic fantasy novel. It will be a mix of live-action and performance-capture footage and be shown in 3D.
Lame. Just stop with your pseudo gothy films, Burton.

I would have rather seen a movie version of American McGee's Alice.

not bad, not bad
I hope he gives it a similar feel to American McGee's Alice, even though that one is set after Wonderland goes to shit(post "Alice in Wonderland")

I thought Sarah Michelle Gellar was supposed to play the lead.

they are no pseudo gothy films, they are 90 minute long Hot Tropic ads.

Alice in wonderland with Tim Burton could work. Every other version is made as a kid's movie, when the novel is really anything but.
To guest#0820. That's what we need. Another Planet of the Apes or Mars Attacks.
Let Burton make his gothic movies, he's actually damn good at them.

You mean it's NOT Helena Bonham Carter? Or Johnny Depp in drag? Wow....
Burton reimaginings since the 2000s = not a good thing, just so you know. And for such a counterculture icon, he sure likes to use other people's ideas, doesn't he?

okay he directs planet of the apes...didnt see the movie.
He directed sleepy hollow....didnt read the book.
He directed charlie and the chocolate factory an never even touched the book shootign a glance at the old movie and adding a "Im sad cuz my daddy left me" subplot that made the movie like 3 hours longer than it should have been.
Maybe this time hes gonna read the F@&$% book to get the story right.
Youi watch alice will have a thousand emo daddy issues.

Um...hate to tell you, but Burton's version of Charlie was more to the source than the original...have YOU read the book?
As for Alice...I'm sure Depp and Carter will have roles...Mad Hatter and Queen of Hearts maybe? Tell me that wouldn't be awesome...
