[Movies] Batman 3 Depends On Nolan
Posted by Ashish on 08.27.2008

Warner Bros. and production company Legendary Pictures both want to go ahead with another Batman film following the incredible success of The Dark Knight, but everyone seems to be waiting for director Christopher Nolan.

Dark Knight producer Charles Roven put it, "There are a lot of us who emotionally would love to do it. ... But it's really Chris' call. Chris is the kind of filmmaker who just doesn't think about the next movie before he has completely finished the movie he is working on."

Warner Bros. wants the new Batman movie released by 2011.

As much money as Dark Knight is raking in, they obviously will do a sequel one way or another. However, they would be crazy not to do whatever it takes to get Nolan and all other participants from the first two films badk for the third. And for God's sake give Nolan the freedom to make the thing his way; don't force him to shoehorn a bunch of extra unnecessary crap into the story i.e. Spider-Man 3. The guy obviously knows what the hell he's doing, so get him back on board and let him do it!

Well, they BETTER fucking wait on Nolan, because the only directors who MIGHT be able to follow up "The Dark Knight" are Ridley Scott or Stanley Kubrick, who is dead! There's not many directors who have the complexity that Nolan has.

yeah, OK. If nolan does not want to do it I am sure that they will shelve all plans for batman 3.

I wouldnt be suprised if Nolan does come back he'll have it written into his contract that the studio have no say so he can make the film the way he wants.

From all accounts he pretty much got that on The Dark Knight.

I think rodnumber6 hit this one on the head.

Translation - "We want to make more money, but some people have voiced a concern that they want the film to actually be good again and so we're going to give Nolan a little bit of time to sign on before we just crap on the whole franchise with a money raid movie. I'm off to bath in a golden bath filled with money".

If Nolan isn't back I'm all for Joel Schumaker coming back for another Batman film......dark lights anyone????

Of course I'm bullshitting.

I'd take Tim Burton back over Nolan. The only reason I liked Dark Knight was b/c of The Joker being in it. His death aside, Ledger did an awesome job with that role. Without him, it would've been another movie like Begins, which was a horrible Batman movie.

I dont care who does it cause as long as Cher is Playing Catwoman I wont see it.

I think we can safely put the Cher rumor to rest. If Nolan hasn't even taken the plunge and actually SIGNED ON for the movie, I doubt he'd be talking so candidly about casting choices.

Besides, this whole newsbit was ridiculous. Cher as Catwoman and Johnny Depp as The Riddler, in the same movie no less? Yeah, right. This isn't "Batman And Robin", you know.

Need a director? Two words: Jack Black! Let him direct and star as Batman. All you assholes will eat it up!

You know...

THAT isn't a bad idea BUT..

it has to be a spoof.

I love comics, superman is cool (except that they can't do a movie for shit (BTW, Returns went in the right direction, now get a director with vision, and a REAL villian, and we're good. NO MORE REBOOTS)).

But if WB craps on Batman... Well, let's say we know where their studio is, and DC'll probably yank/kill the contract, say fuck it, and resurrect New Line as DC Studios, ala Marvel.

didn't anyone who 'prefers' tim burton's batman movies to begins and tdk ever actually watch them?

the first one was good, even with the subpar vfx, campy cesar romero-esque joker and plot holes big enough to almost squeeze peter jackson's fat talentless ass through.

maybe you didn't like batman begins because it was an origin story that relied more on the original source material than any wacky tim burton take on it.

my only problem with the new batman movies is that they aren't close ENOUGH to the original feel, but that isn't enough of a concern for me to say that they are the most authentic of all the batman serials, series and movies.

just one man's opinion, but it is the only one that matters to me.
