[Movies] Update On Tintin Posted by Ashish on 08.27.2008
Latest on the trilogy from Steven Spielberg (?) and Peter Jackson...
Despite a few rumors earlier this week, Steven Spielberg is still set to direct the first film in the upcoming Tintin trilogy. Peter Jackson will produce the first film and direct the second. The entire trilogy will be done using motion-capture technology.
The trilogy will center around Tintin, a young journalist, and his companions which include his dog Snowy and his pal the sea-dog Captain Haddock, as they travel around the world. The first film in the trilogy will be based on the books The Secret of the Unicorn and Red Rackham's Treasure.
If Peter Jackson directs the second film expect it to be 5 hours long.

Ahhh I loved Tintin, of course I read it mainly from 4-10 so I likely enjoyed it more than someone who read it as a cable tv-addled 14 year-old who just caught up to the reading level. (Mebets the ladies will protest too much)
The first movie will be brilliant, after that who knows. Stephen Moffat, the writer of the first one has left the series to become the producer of Doctor Who for the upcoming 31st Series.
3 Hugos in a row folks, during the new golden age of SF on the Telly to boot, that man knows how to turn out an interesting, innovative and chilling script!

WTF? : you probably didn't read tintin in your life or realize the importance of it (seeing how Speilberg's Raiders of the lost Ark had many scenes lifted directly from Tintin scenes)
This will be a huge movie and will do Insane business in Europe, Asia and amongst the fans and children in North America
