[Movies] Get Ready for Facebook: The Movie
Posted by Ashish on 08.28.2008
Social networking site headed to the big screen...
West Wing creator and The American President writer Aaron Sorkin is writing a script about the Facebook social networking website.
The film will revolve around the creation of the site by Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg in 2004, and the way in which it changed his life and the lives of those around him.
uhhh huh? Is this a comedy? A horror? a thriller? Even better, just file this under COMPLETE SHIT!

Also coming in 2009...
MySpace: The Musical!
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Google
How Harry Met YouTube
And our favorite...
411...you know, instead of 300....bah...this is all terrible.

LOL. Just when you thought movies couldn't get any worse...and the scary thing? All the hipsters and stupid 15 year olds will make this garbage a lot of money.

I don't think it sounds so bad. I would love to know how Facebook came to be.

I know it sounds a little lack luster, but so far, I've never been disappointed by Aaron Sorkin. He can make magic from mundane.

Hmm... not a remake... and it will STILL suck.

I was ready to write this one off until I realized how they could potentially turn this into the next 'Pursuit of Happyness'.
Come on, Snarkin! cast the Fresh Prince!!

Facebook: The Movie - featuring the cast of "How to Catch A Predator" with host Chris Hansen

I am with Wes. This sounded like complete sh*t, but if Sorkin is writing it then it should be pretty good.

people can shit on this all they want, but as soon as I read the description it just sounds like a facebook version of Pirates of Silicon Valley, which wasn't a bad movie at all and very informative.
give it a chance, you may learn things you didn't think you would and actually be unconventionally entertained.

If it weren't bad enough, Platinum Dunes just acquired the remake rights to this.

I would so go watch 411. Pixar can make it and they could digitize a war between wrestling sites. You know you'll love watching digital Larry scream "This is..." then get impaled through the chest or booted into a dead link.

Let me sum it up for you all...a kid creates a website at 22 and he becomes a fucking billionaire at 24. There, that's it. Like he needs anymore money!

Why the bashing? Sorkin is awesome and can't see him writing something just to be used as a marketing tool.
And it's about the guy who created Facebook, it's not Facebook: The Movie. You guys are just way to quick to bash on something without any other information.

I wonder if it will have all of the Sorkin staples like unnatural dialogue, annoying characters, and plot devices that only a 6th grader would think is clever?

See, this is why I love Internet communities: the one-dimensional views you sometimes get to read can be SOOOO entertaining....
There just MIGHT be an interesting story behind such a sweeping global success. The way Web firms spring up seemingly by the dozens, the story of how THIS one stuck out enough to thrive on the scale it is should be a fascinating study.
This isn't just about "15 year olds". I see this as a potentially interesting business story that asks "Now did this get from THERE to HERE?"
Pick up an issue of Conde Nast Portfolio or Fast Company sometime and indulge in how great business minds shape little things we take for granted every day.
