[Movies] Voltron Director Is...
Posted by Ashish on 08.29.2008

Latino Review reports that Max Makowski will be named the director of Voltron soon. Makowski has directed episodes of the TV shows Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and The Agency. Makowski apparently has a very unique visual style planned for Voltron.

this is a better director than could be expected for a movie version of a barely passable kiddie cartoon from the 1980's.

It's not Uwe Boll at least

I remember Voltron the cartoon being pretty much unbearable and that was when I was like 8 and could watch just about anything without it bothering me. I wonder if the movie will cut corners the way the cartoon did by doing those freeze frames with dialogue still going.

Just because it was a cartoon 20 years ago does not mean it needs to be a live action movie now.

SPOILER ALERT

The movie will end with all of the lions forming Voltron and then Voltron will form blazing sword and cut the villain monster in half.

Voltron is NOT like transformers or G.I. Joe meaning it did not age well. I love the show when I was a 6-7 but I saw an episode recently and it was awful just like thundercats. It was great when i was young but doesn't hold up anymore. transformers, G.I. Joe, TMNT, Gargoyles, Robotech...those all still hold up as i've aged.

Voltron deserves the same respect that any movie based on a really awful cartoon from the '80's deserves.

unfortunately, it doesn't appear that it remain relegated to the niche corner of the local RPG gaming store where the 300lb 14 year old D&D/Magic The Gathering players sit around, eating energy bars and wonder aloud why they can't find girlfriends whilst throwing a D20 to see if the ogre is going to eat their level 3 swinging mace of ventuzzler.

the director of this movie should be nothing more than one of those youtube superstars who think they are ready for hollywood because they found out how to overlay some gay ass rap song over a clip from family guy.

Gatchaman, however...i would love to see on the big screen, but not Voltron.
