[Movies] Hathaway, Carter Join Burton's Alice In Wonderland Posted by Ashish on 10.08.2008
Cast grows for film...
Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter have both joined the cast of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland.
Hathaway will play "the White Queen, a benevolent monarch who is deposed and banished by her sister, the Red Queen (Carter), who has an affinity for crying out, 'Off with their heads!' The White Queen needs Alice to slay a creature known as the Bandersnatch."
Mia Wasikowska will play Alice while Johnny Depp will play the Mad Hatter.

Helena Bonham Carter has been (mostly)awesome for a decade now.

So Willy Wonka will be the Mad Hatter and he's rumored to be The Riddler. It must be easy to play the same character in all these movies.

Depp as The Scarecrow
Carter as The Wicked Witch
The Wizard of Oz:
Tim Burton's newest addition to his "stories that don't need to be remade in his shitty black and white goth style using the same two actors every damn time" collection.
2011. Book it.

Wasn't there a scene in Alice where the White Queen paraded around topless?

Guest#8633: Well let's see, everything Johnny Depp touches turns to gold, and Burton has children with Carter. Mystery solved. And I will LMAO when the Wizard of Oz remake really happens.

The Mad Hatter and the Riddler are much different villains, Marcus. Riddler specializes in puzzles, while the Mad Hatter works in mind control.

Little Britain USA totally needs to do a Burton spoof skit, since no one in the US probably knows who Dennis Waterman is. He could go to Jeremy Rent who has ideas for movies he can direct. And he will accept as long as, "They want me to direct it, let my wife star in it, write the feem toon, sing the feem toon..." or something like that.
BTW, some genius, has to use other people's ideas now. Well I guess Hot Topic will sell a lot of Mad Hatter hats now, eh?

directors work with people they get along with. i don't complain when the coens work with clooney and mcdormand. i don't complain when scorsese works with de niro and pesci. i don't complain when kobe works with phil jackson. at least burton doesn't give them starring roles every time.

No way, Thedude, we all know it must be...POLITICZZZZ~!~! Burton is the game-uh, LOL

P.S. I hope to heck that the Riddler rumors are just that. First, if Depp is in a Nolan Batman, the terro...I mean, the Burton fans win (seriously, I can see them twist that into a victory for "their" Batman). Second it would be too jarring for me as I don't like JD, so he'll either ruin it for me, or if he does a good job, how do I keep not liking him?

Tim Burton remakes Mary Poppins the way it was originally written. Where Mary is not at all nice. Depp could be Burt and Bonham Carter can be the screaming Mary.. That'll be interesting.

It's funny to call danny elfman a hack when his themes are some of the best ever written. His Batman theme is still seen as THE Batman theme. The Simpsons theme is probably one of the most recognisable themes ever and his Spider-man theme fits the films perfectly.

I'd love to make the money that "hack" Danny Elfman has made. And fuck his wife. He's better than Conti. Darth Mortis you must be gay.

That's all wrong. The Red Queen is a different person than the Queen of Hearts. I don't know why Burton can't do a faithful adaptation.

Squirrel Master...I think I am going to lobby for spoiler masking to be enabled here. Just so you can obscure posts like yours. Not cause there's anything wrong with your opinion....I just don't want anyone to get any ideas, or lack of original ideas, as it were.
FYI, I did like Carter (Where Angels Fear To Tread was a good movie, and she was "Saffy" in a dream sequence in Ab Fab). But I fear her being the beneficiary of nepotism (or whatever you call it for spouses) will ruin her for me. Kind of like how being a Kliqster ruined HBK.

Just so you know, turning stories best known by Disney adaptions on their heads might have made you a maverick...15 years ago.
