How did "Milk" have the highest per theatre average and make so little money?

It's a shame Quantum of Solace is dropping so fast. I mean I didn't expect it do have a Dark Knight esque run, but at least stay on top a little longer.

Role Models did pretty well.

Milk had a higher theatre average because it was was screened in lees theatres (a lot less by the looks of it). But enough people saw the film, or a lot saw the film in the five theatres(probably) that it had the highest average. Hope this helped. I don't know if it sounds a little confusing.

Australia is doing gangbusters business over seas so don't consider it a bomb.

@Brian:

Because it was only released into 36 theaters nationwide.

I didn't know it was released in limited theaters asshole. My bad you douchebag.

I just thought it was odd to see it have the HPTA and finish so low.

I'm sorry I offended you and your "expert" movie knowledge. **Bows down**

BTW, thank you to everyone else who responded and didn't act like a jackass about it.

I wasn't ripping the movie or anything I was asking a legit question.

To whomever posts this article every Sunday:

Could you start including how much money the movie cost to make, and how much it has earned so far? That would make this list three times as interesting as it is now.

How did Twilight fall one spot to #3 this week and Quantum of Solace fall two spots to #4? Were they both #2 last week?
