Tom Cruise Starts Production On The Last Samurai

Cruise takes his first shot at playing a samurai in his upcoming movie...

Tom Cruise has started work on his latest film, The Last Samurai. Shooting will go down in the U.S., Japan, and New Zealand.

Directed by Edward Zwick, the movie will focus on Cruise who will play an American cop enlisted by Japan to update their warfare techniques. While in Japan, Cruise's character becomes taken with the art of samurai, despite orders from Japan to eliminate the division.

The film also features Billy Connolly, Tony Goldwyn, and Togo Igawa.
