With the sequel under production, WB wasted no time adding a 3rd part to the series...
Warner Brothers has announced that it will be releasing a third part to its Scooby-Doo franchise. Warner was hoping to make a franchise off the popular cartoon if the first part was a success, and it was to the tune of $153 million.
The second part of the Scooby-Doo franchise is already in production, with the entire original cast of Freddie Prinz Jr. (Fred), Matthew Lillard (Shaggy), Sarah Michelle Gellar (Daphne), and Linda Cardellini (Velma) returning.
While the original cast had a sequel clause built in to their original Scooby-Doo deals, it is unknown whether they will return against for the 3rd part. It will all likely depend on how much money they get offered.
Warner Bros. has hired screenwriters Dan Forman and Paul Foley to write Scooby-Doo 3. That is the same duo that just sent in a rewrite of the script for The Jetsons, another upcoming film based on a hit cartoon.
