Robert DeNiro is currently starring in and producing a film called Criminal Minded. The film is based on the true story of a Boston cop and Boston thief Phil Cresta who formed an unusual real life friendship. The story is based on the work of author Brian Wallace.
DeNiro will play the role of Cresta, a notorious Boston area thief.
The film was originally titled Final Confession but has since been changed. The original script (written by Brian Goluboff who also wrote The Basketball Diaries) has been tossed and Scott Marshall Smith (Men of Honor) is now writing the new script. The film will be directed by George Tillman, Jr. (Men of Honor).
The film is expected to be a character driven peice that looks at the unlikely friendship between the cop and the thief.
