Webbie – Savage Life Review

I hope that is not the full extent of his talents
I do not know much about Webbie besides that one song that endlessly plays on the radio. I hope that is not the full extent of his talents and he can show me something with Savage Life. Although I must admit, my hopes for that are not very high.
Bump –
Track 1) G-Shit: Decent opening track, very basic lyrics laid over a beat that sounds like every other beat but not particularly bad.
Track 2) How U Ridin’: More of the same old, considering I am already getting sick of it I will be generous to begin to give this a fighting chance.
Track 3) Like That: I like the beat, it is catchy, other than that though, do not expect much.
Track 5) Give Me That: Only because I have heard this song so damn much that it has pretty much been drilled into my head I will go ahead and say bump it, Bun B also appears.
Track 9) I Got That: Lil’ Boosie appears on this track which is actually good compared to those that came before it.
Track 10) What Is It: Webbie definitely comes off better with a more R&B type track rather than all that crunk stuff, this is decent enough.
Track 12) Bad Bitch: The beat matches the song perfectly and Webbie does a good job with his comedic lyrics.
Track 13) Mind Ya’ Business: This one could go either way, it is nothing special but Webbie comes off very respectable here so bump it.
Track 14) Come Here Bitch: The beat is okay, and Mannie Fresh seems to be coming correct on everything I hear him on lately and this is no exception.
Track 15) Retarded: This is a good beat to flow to and Webbie does a decent job with it.
Track 17) U Don’t Want That: Look it is Lil’ Boosie again, this is another borderline good song that is not bad enough to skip.
Track 18) Bad Bitch Remix: Sounds almost exactly like the original but with Trina, which is not saying much but hell I said bump the original so why not.
Skip –
Track 4) Full Of Dat Shit: Okay enough being generous, Webbie and Lil’ Boosie are full of something on this track.
Track 6) Crank It Up: Your lyrics really need work when the most memorable line is about chicken nuggets.
Track 7) Laid Way Back: A song about getting high and laying back, hmm maybe I need to get high and this song would be better.
Track 8) Gutta Bitch: He seems to be behind the beat in the beginning and never quite catches up.
Track 11) Back Up: Lil’ Boosie appears again, he must have an album coming out soon, yeah do yourself a favor and skip this.
Track 16) Gotta Show Me U Worth It: Webbie and B.G. are the ones who are not worth it, at least not on this track.
Well no one is going to mistake Webbie for the greatest lyricist that is for sure. I was also quite generous with the bump suggestions. That being said however, the real problem with this album is that it sounds like everything else out right now. You could turn on the radio and think that Webbie sings three out of the five songs you hear based on this album.
The 411: This lacks originality as it sounds like almost everything else out today, also many of the lyrics are lacking. If you are looking for the same old run of the mill club music to play in your car then this is for you. Other than that, you need to avoid this at all costs.
