D4L – Down For Life Review

I hope it will not be an altogether unpleasant experience
I am not sure what to expect from the people who brought us such classics as “Laffy Taffy” and I hope it will not be an altogether unpleasant experience. Well here goes nothing.
Bump –
Track 1) Bankhead – A decent opener although I could go without someone shouting Bankhead every six seconds and plus we all know how I tend to be more generous during the opening portion of the album.
Track 2) Laffy Taffy: What can I say? This song is contagious but be warned it is one of those tracks that has the tendency to become instantly played out and hated at any given moment.
Track 4) Stuntman: This track is about how much money they have, not a bad track but I suggest you save up some of that money.
Track 9) I’m da Man: Who still says this? Anyway, this is not great but by comparison, to some of the other stuff here this could win a Grammy.
Track 10) Diggin’ Me: They are extremely cocky for being not that good, but hey, I admit I dig this song a little, could be the next single.
Track 11) Get Real Low: Get Real Low huh, where is Lil Jon? Eh, it is not horrible.
Track 12) Maine It Rain: 2 Short, Kool Ace, and Sweets appear here, I will say bump it just for the change of pace and not having to only listen to D4L.
Track 13) Shittin’ Me: This is definitely one of the better songs on the album and could be the best one of all.
Skip –
Track 3) What Can U Do: Jesus someone is still yelling Bankhead, apparently they can do anything we can do besides making me like this track that is.
Track 5) Do It Like Me: God talk about an awful beat, and an awful song to boot.
Track 6) Front Street: Front Street whoa, that is the whole song besides some very average rhymes, skip it.
Track 7) Scotty: Wow, this is bad, apparently, Scotty is calling them, they should have answered then maybe they would not have had to make a bad song about it.
Track 8) Betcha Cant Do It Like Me: This has a weird almost unplugged feel to it and it sucks, I bet no one wants to do it like you after hearing this.
Track 14) Game Owe Me: If the game owes you then you owe me the time it took to listen to this bad closer.
Well this was not as bad as I expected but still pretty bad, I went easy on them with the bump and skip ratio but do not let it deter you from my true feelings towards this.
The 411: I did not expect much going in and I got what I mostly expected. Granted there were a few decent tracks and overall it might have even been better than I thought it would be. Still nothing near anything I would want in my CD player anytime soon. So next time you are at your local record store I would suggest passing on the D4L.
