All You Cannot Live Without 08.17.09: Written In Humidity, It's That Hot
Posted by Ben Czajkowski on 08.17.2009
Alice In Chains joined by Elton John on new album. Adema, Fuel get reformed, kind of. Nothing face, American Head Charge split. Track listings for new Austrian Death Machine, Five Finger Death Punch, AFI, more. Crossbreed delayed for the 100th time. Tour dates from Paramore, Taproot/Cold, Lamb of God, more. Listen to new Breaking Benjamin, Dead By Sunrise, Third Eye Blind, and more!
After months of online rumors, Adema confirmed that they have reunited with their original singer Mark "Marky" Chavez, who is the half-brother of Korn's Jonathan Davis. Here is the official announcement, skipping the self-indulged backstory:
"...Eventually wounds healed and the 5 original members of Adema buried the hatchet and became cordial, then friendly, even briefly flirting with the idea of reuniting with Chavez before the release of Kill The Headlights. Well, that wasn't in the cards, but apparently 2 years later, we've been dealt a different hand.....
Yes, after years of heated YOUTUBE debate...about whether or not Adema sucked/ruled with or without Marky, whether or not "Giving In" was Linkin Park, and what exactly "nu-metal" is, in 2009, 5 friends from Bakersfield decided to get together and make music again. .... .. .. Haters, start your engines."
Vroom. Vroom.
The band has a DVD due out sometime soon, as well as a b-sides album that will include unreleased songs, rarities, demos, b-sides, and remixes all from the original lineup due out in the Spring of 2010. The band is also planning a new full-length with the new lineup sometime in 2010.
Former Fuel vocalist Brett Scallions formed the new band Re-Fueled with bass player and Fuel co-founder Jeff Abercrombie, guitarist Yogi, and former Candiria drummer Ken Schalk. Scallions says that this is more than just a Fuel cover band and that we can likely expect new music from the group in the near future.
In addition, Scallions has apparently started another project named World Fire Brigade with Smile Empty Soul front-man Sean Danielsen and producer Eddie Wall, which he describes as "much heavier" than anything he ever did with Fuel.
The trio originally got together to write songs for other bands. They are about three quarters of the way complete with their debut album which they plan to release in Spring 2010, and hope to have a song out before the end of the year.
Re-Fueled already began booking shows around the country, promoting the slogan "Playing all the Fuel hits!". The following shows have been found so far:
Aug. 28th in Tempe, AZ - Tempe Marketplace Oct. 1st in Baltimore, MD - Recher Theatre Oct. 3rd in in Allentown, PA - Crocodile Rock Cafe
Alice In Chains teamed up with Elton John on the title track to their upcoming new album Black Gives Way To Blue. The song, a tribute to the group's late frontman Layne Staley, will feature John on the piano. Band guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell recounts the experience working on the track, stating: "We were thinking about adding piano to the track and a friend suggested we call Elton. I remember laughing and saying, 'Yeah, I'll get right on that.' But I decided it was worth trying and wrote Elton an email explaining what that song means to us -- that it's a real, raw openhearted song for Layne. We sent him the track and got a call shortly after saying he thought it was beautiful and that he wanted to play on it. We were blown away. Elton John is a huge influence on me as a songwriter and having him on that song is an amazing honor for us."
The finalized track listing is as follows:
01 - "All Secrets Known" 02 - "Check My Brain" 03 - "Last Of My Kind" 04 - "Your Decision" 05 - "A Looking In View" 06 - "When The Sun Rose Again" 07 - "Acid Bubble" 08 - "Lessons Learned" 09 - "Take Her Out" 10 - "Private Hell" 11 - "Black Gives Way To Blue"
Radiohead leaked another new song online titled "These Are My Twisted Words". This further fuels rumors that the band might be releasing a new EP titled Walls of Ice TODAY!! Monday, August 17. The band recently spoke out stating that they were not interested in releasing full albums any longer citing the troubles they had recording their most recent outing In Rainbows. Front-man Tom Yorke stated, "It worked with In Rainbows because we had a real fixed idea about where we were going. But we've all said that we can't possibly dive into that again. It'll kill us."
Nothingface once again disbanded with the band members citing issues with frontman Matt Holt as the reason for their inability to continue on. Guitarist Tom Maxwell had the following to say on the situation:
"...Out of respect to Nothingface fans past & present i believe you deserve to know where things stand with NF. At least with my participation. In the past couple weeks i've decided that i cannot move forward or continue to work with Nothingface anymore. This has nothing to do with my NF bandmates Bill Gaal or Chris Houck but directly with band vocalist Matt Holt. Its in my belief/opinion that Matt no longer has the passion, drive or artistic capabilities to continue in a musical direction. His lack of work ethic and desire to be part of the writing process or to track vocals for the music that has been written has pushed me to make the decision to not be part of NF any longer. Its a shame and i sincerely apologize to all the fans that have stood by us waiting for new music from the original lineup. I don't want to point fingers or lay blame but in fairness to myself, Bill and Chris we tried very hard with the best intentions to bring you all killer new music. Unfortunately and with regret i do not think that it's going to happen."
An additional statement from band bassist Bill Gaal confirming the bands plans to hang it up can be found here.
Chuck Mosely, former Faith No More and Bad Brains vocalist, has streamed his new single "The Enabler" featuring Korn front-man Jonathan Davis, listen to it right here. The single, which impacts rock radio on August 17th, is taken from Mosely's new album Will Rap Over Hard Rock For Food in stores now.

Speaking on the bonus tracks, band frontman Keith Buckley had the following to offer: "Deciding what two songs to put on the bonus CD was a very difficult and emotionally taxing coin toss... Get real dudes, all the songs rip. In this case, however, one record couldn't contain the sheer enormity of the riffs. Just think of the bonus CD as a sidecar on a motorcycle where your little buddy who holds onto your weed and guns sits."

A release early next year is expected, while the band had the following to say on the signing: "Today we signed a new recording contract with Rise Records. We've been talking with these dudes for awhile now and their passion for music and love for our band is undeniable. Rise is a label that is growing rapidly and is second to none in promotion and we feel lucky to jump on board with people who genuinely care about the growth of the bands they sign. The last year has been difficult for us to say the least, with member losses and money issues plaguing the future of our band. With new members, a new record written and a new label backing us, it definitely feels amazing to get a fresh start."

American Head Charge decided to call it quits as a result of ongoing issues with their frontman Cameron Heacock and his "inability to continue on a musical career path" as the reason behind the split. In turn, the members of the band, sans Heacock, will be continuing on together under a new moniker and are currently auditioning a new vocalist. The group had this to say:
"This is not the kind of news I enjoy being the bearer of, but we've been ready and waiting for input from Cameron for almost two years; we've written and recorded two albums worth of material in that time." says co-founder and bassist Chad Hanks. "At this point, he no longer gives being in this band any sort of top priority, which is so sad seeing as how he has such an amazing and unique voice; I couldn't wait to hear it on these songs.
"However, we're looking forward to some new blood; a young, hungry soul that doesn't sound like anyone else and is ready to work his ass off. We're more than eager to get back to the mines. This is what we do."

damn shame about Nothingface and American Head Charge. both great bands that flew under the radar that both languished due to their lead vocalists being too lazy to put down the drugs and record new stuff.
terrible way to end things.

couldn't agree more with the above comment- both awesome live bands and should have been bigger... remember years ago in Birmingham seeing AHC open for Kittie of all people and blowing them out of the water, ended up leaving early to chill with some of the guys at the bar next door and they were all good peeps...
