Oasis singer and guitarist Noel Gallagher has quit the band:
"It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer."

Demon Hunter parted ways with lead guitarist Ethan Luck and rhythm guitarist Don Clark. Clark who is the brother of the band's front-man Ryan Clark, is leaving for family responsibilities, while Luck will join Relient K as their full-time drummer. Patrick Judge, who has previously toured with the band, will take over the guitar duties. The band will hit the studio this October to work on their fifth album due out sometime next year.
Switchfoot delayed the release of their upcoming new album Hello Hurricane again, this time from November 3 to November 10. The first single "Mess of Me" will impact rock radio on September 21.
Candlebox front-man Kevin Martin has formed a new band with Live guitarist Chad Taylor, bassist Pat Dalheimer, and drummer Chad Gracey named The Gracious Few. The band expect to debut new music sometime soon. Live is currently on a two year hiatus while front-man Ed Kowalczyk focuses on his solo project which hits the road soon with Everclear front-man Art Alexakis for a special acoustic tour called "Open Wings - Broken Strings Tour". As for Candlebox, the band is planning a 2010 release for their upcoming new album.
A second video teaser for Candiria's upcoming four volume remix/rarities release series Toying With The Insanities has been posted online here. Both volumes one and two of the series are expected to see a September 9 release on CD, LP and digitally, while two further volumes will arrive early next year.
Korn bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu recently compiled an impressive list of musicians to collaborate on a benefit track for Deftones bassist Chi Cheng which can now be purchased online here. A preview video for the track is also available here. Guest artists who play on the song are as follows:

36 Crazyfists chose UnderneathA Northern Sky as the title to their upcoming live DVD outing which will see an October 27 release. The main portion of the DVD is comprised of a live show which the band performed in Anchorage, Alaska on January 9, 2009. The shoot was helmed by videographer Todd Bell (Chimaira). Furthermore, the DVD will also play host to a number of other features, including footage from the band's very first show, backstage behind the scenes footage, band member interviews and all of their promotional videos to date.
Rob Zombie will release his as-yet-untitled new solo album on November 10. Zombie stated recently that this is his favorite album of his career.
The Almost will release their upcoming new album Monster Monster on November 3.
Between The Buried And Me have posted the final webisode from the recording sessions for their new album The Great Misdirect online here. Furthermore, the band revealed that more footage from the sessions will be featured on a bonus DVD that will be packaged with the Deluxe Edition of The Great Misdirect, which is due out in stores on October 27.
The Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan and Janes' Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro have started a new band named Spirits in the Sky. The band launched a new tour last night at the tiny, 225-capacity Cellar Door in Visalia, California. The band played 17 songs, with the only familiar tune being "Song for a Son," which the Pumpkins played on tour last year. A full list of tour dates has not yet been revealed.
Bring Me The Horizon is gearing up to release a remixed version of their latest album Suicide Silence in the UK on November 2. Dubbed Suicide Seasons - Cut Up, The outing will feature remixes and reinterpretations of the band's material done by the likes of Slipknot's Shawn 'Clown' Crahan, Benjamin Weinman of The Dillinger Escape Plan, L'Amour La Morgue (Ian Watkins of Lostprophets), Tek-One, Robot Sonic, Outcry Colelctive, Utah Saints and more. Everclear inked a new deal with 429 Records and will release a new album titled In a Different Light on October 6. The record will feature two new tracks including "Here Comes the Darkness" and "At the End of the Day", as well as re-worked versions of some of their hits:

Slipknot percussionist Chris Fehn stated that the band are likely to release a new album sometime in 2010.
Through The Eyes Of The Dead is currently making headway with the recording of their upcoming new album which they are self-producing. Meanwhile, the band announced that Erik Rutan has had to step down from the mixing duties of the album as a result of scheduling conflicts. In turn, the band, along with their current engineer, will now be handling the mixing of the effort themselves. The group expects to release the album late this year/early next year and tapped Paul Romano to helm the artwork for it.
The Ataris will release their upcoming new album The Graveyard of the Atlantic sometime this Fall.
Flaw announced that they are putting the final touches on their upcoming new album which they are planning to release this November/December. The band revealed eight song names to be included on the album below:
Gwen Stacy's signing to Solid State Records has now officially been announced. As previously reported, the group will release their new album A Dialogue on October 20. The song "The First Words" has been tapped as the first single from the release with a video for it in the works with director Jeremy Jackson.
The Foo Fighters will release their upcoming greatest hits album on November 3. The record will feature two new songs including "Word Forward" and their new single "Wheels", which impacts rock radio on September 28.
The repackaged 3 disc set of Godflesh's early outings Pure, Cold World and Slavestate, is now set for an October 6 North American release. As previously reported, all of the efforts have been remastered, while the following bonus tracks will also be featured:
Theory of a Deadman will issue a deluxe edition of their latest album Scars & Souvenirs on October 20. The set will include a DVD with all of their videos, behind the scenes material, and a live version of "Hate My Life".
Down bassist Rex Brown's plans to rejoin the group this week appear to have been shelved with Brown needing more time to attend to "personal issues." In turn, Danny Theriot (ex-Victorian Blitz) is expected to continue filling in for Brown on the tour.
Nile is set to release their new album Those Whom The Gods Detest on November 3.
The track listing has been revealed for 3's upcoming new outing Revisions, which sees the band re-examining and reworking their earlier, and in some cases previously unreleased, material. Here's how the outing shapes up:

VentanA (Mushroomhead) looks to have inked a deal with Trustkill and will release their latest effort American Survival Guide Vol. 1 through the label on October 6. Those unfamiliar with the band can check them out here.
Former Rock Star Supernova front-man Lukas Rossi has renamed his new supergroup from Interview to Daylight Division. The band includes P.O.D. guitarist Marcos Curiel, former Chevelle bassist Joe Loeffler, and former Papa Roach drummer Dave Buckner.
Sonic Syndicate replaced vocalist Roland Johansson with former The Hollow Earth Theory frontman Nathan James Biggs. The group, with Biggs in tow, recently entered the studio to record two new tracks, "Burn This City" and "Rebellion In Nightmare Land" - both of which will appear on a new bonus EP that will be included with a November 6 reissue of the group's latest effort, Love And Other Disasters. A new album from the band is expected to follow in April/May 2010.
The Cranberries announced that they that they will reform for the first time in nearly seven years for a new tour to begin sometime in mid-November. The band will be performing their hits, some new songs, and songs off of front-woman Dolores O'Riordan's new solo album No Baggage which hit stores on August 25.
The Sword's track "Celestial Crown" is featured on the soundtrack to the new motion picture Jennifer's Body. The soundtrack saw a release this week and also features tracks by the likes of Panic! At The Disco, Cobra Starship and more... In other news, the band also announced that they will have a song featured in the upcoming film "Horsemen", which stars Dennis Quaid. The Sword has been busily writing new material for their next album as of late with plans to have it out next year.
Scar Symmetry's upcoming new album Dark Matter Dimensions has been slated for an October 20 North American release.
Alex Band, former lead singer of The Calling, will be releasing his solo full-length debut album sometime this November while the lead single "Tonight" impacts radio soon.

Rage Against The Machine's "Guerilla Radio" and Avenged Sevenfold's "Bat Country" are among the tracks being made available as premium downloadable content for the "Rock Band" videogame series next week. The songs will surface on the Xbox Live Marketplace on September 1 and on the Playstation Network on September 3.
Korn announced that they will be releasing a new free exclusive digital EP four times a year to those who becoming premium members of their official website, www.korn.com. The first installment in the series will be released early next month and will feature a rough instrumental demo of a new track from the band's forthcoming album as well as other previously unreleased tracks. Korn has been hard at work writing and recording new material for their next album with producer Ross Robinson (Slipknot, Glassjaw) as of late.

Warning: Touring Updates May Lead To Spontaneous Moshing
Slipknot postponed the remaining dates of their August/September run as a result of a burst appendix being suffered by band drummer Joey Jordison. Bassist Paul Gray issued this statement announcing that the band will continue touring in October:
"There are PERSONAL issues in the band that NEED to be taken care of for us to continue touring. Let me emphasize JOEY IS NOT DEAD/DYING".
Black Label Society pulled out of the ongoing "Pedal To The Metal Tour" as a result of Zakk Wylde developing blood clots in his lungs. More on that can be found here.
Scars On Broadway embarked upon a tour of U.S. Army bases in Iraq last week sans band frontman/guitarist Daron Malakian. Little has been heard as of late from the band, who came to a standstill in late 2008 after Malakian pulled the plug on the group's touring and promotional plans for undisclosed personal reasons. Band guitarist/vocalist Franky Perez had the following to say about the tour: "Believe me... We all wish that our brother D would come as well, but he has other commitments in the States. He has given us his blessing to go perform and supports the cause completely."
The band performed a number of classic rock covers as well as material of their own during the sets.
The Dillinger Escape Plan announced that they will be performing at the "FYF Fest" at the Los Angeles State Park in Los Angeles, CA on September 5. Other artists performing at the fest include Converge, Torche, Lightning Bolt and more. In other news, the band is now set to officially begin tracking their new album Option Paralysis on September 7 with producer Steve Evetts (Every Time I Die, Sepultura). Escape The Fate was added to Atreyu and Hollywood Undead's previously announced upcoming U.S. run together which kicks off on October 16 and runs through till late November.
Nine Inch Nails is pulling out all the stops for their current final shows in the U.S. The group recently performed their entire album The Downward Spiral from start to finish, footage for which has surfaced all over Youtube.
