Mudvayne released a new 3 song EP through iTunes this past week. The outing features the following track listing:

01 – "Scream With Me"
02 – "Beautiful And Strange"
03 – "Heard It All Before"

All three of the songs featured will appear on the bands upcoming new self-titled album:

01 – "Beautiful And Strange"
02 – "1000 Mile Journey"
03 – "Scream With Me"
04 – "Closer"
05 – "Heard It All Before"
06 – "I Can't Wait"
07 – "Beyond The Pale"
08 – "All Talk"
09 – "Out To Pasture"
10 – "Burn The Bridge"
11 – "Dead Inside"

The album is due in stores on December 22. In related news, the band is also preparing a limited edition "super deluxe" version of the album for release complete with a blacklight, glow in the dark vinyl, blacklight posters, decals and more. Additional details on that can be found here.

Godsmack is planning to release their new album sometime in March of 2010. The band is currently in the studio with producer Dave Fortman (Slipknot, Mudvayne, Evanescence) and hope to finish up sometime in December.

Avenged Sevenfold is currently writing new material for their next album which they will soon begin recording. Band guitarist Zacky Vengeance had the following to say on the matter:

"It has been awhile since we have shed light on our current doings. Well here is a long awaited update into the world of A7X..

We came off of the road amidst one of the most turbulent times in history. Everything going on around us was overwhelming, frightening, frustrating and confusing.

I must confess that it was also very exciting to me. I'm sure you can share my sentiment. We have been focused on only one thing, writing and preparing to record what to me is our most personal and epic Avenged Sevenfold album.

The reason is the fact that everything happening around us in the entire world might be a once in a life time source of inspiration and direction. We have been harnessing every aspect of what makes A7X truly unrelenting and building off of that.

I don't think we sleep too much anymore because of the excitement we feel while writing this album. Only a world spinning out of control could inspire the music and vision we have now. Once again it is fucking exciting.

We will continue finalizing our songs until we feel every note does both You as well as Us justice. We are also in the final stages of solidifying our production team, studios and engineers so that the second the axe falls and the album is written we will spend day and night in the studio until it is complete.
This album will definitely take you on a very dark journey…"

[~~~***~~~]

As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis checked in with the following update on their new album:

"We've released little bits of information here or there in previous news posts and blogs, but there are still questions coming in concerning what we've been up to. Below is an unquestionably obvious outline concerning our future plans…

1) We started working on new album 2) We started recording that new album a few weeks ago with Adam D & Daniel Castleman at the reigns (and JMR for a couple weeks). 3) There are only drums for 8 songs tracked so far.

One of them we're undecided about, but maybe it'll feel different when the vocals are done. Either way, we need write more than 8 songs (since they aren't as long as the 8 songs on Master of Puppets). Therefore we're working on writing MORE new songs as soon as we finish recording what's been started.

4) The only break in working on the new album will be our short trip to Mexico and Sri Lanka to play two of the best shows of our career. 5) All of us can't stress enough how grateful we are to be writing music that we love while still receiving a paycheck.

This can only be credited to OUR LOYAL FANS! Sometimes bands need to rush out a crappy record so they can start touring again to pay their bills. In our case, we plan to make a record worth listening to (hopefully), and start touring again when we're done.

Thanks for your patience and understanding. We care and we're working. In fact, I haven't had a full nights rest since March when the coolest kid ever made me a DAD! tim"

Liam Gallagher announced that he and the other ex-members of Oasis are starting a new band together, without his brother Noel, who quit and effectively broke up the band earlier this year. In an Italian radio interview, Liam said:

The Ocean recruited vocalist Loic Rossetti as their new frontman. Band guitarist Robin Staps checked in with the following regarding his addition to their line-up:

"We are happy to announce Mr. Loic Rossetti as tour new vocalist. We are looking forward to weeks and months of intense touring in the future and a new era in the story of our lives! Having Loic in the band enables me to do what I've always been wanting to do with this band.

His voice is strong and expressive and his variety of tone and the ease with which he switches between different vocal styles really amazing. There are no limits anymore. His screams are devastating, but his most valuable quality is his singing voice, which we will employ much more on the upcoming album."

Currently the band has two new albums in the works with the first on course for a March 2010 release and the second to follow in September 2010.

dredg frontman Gavin Hayes and drummer Dino Campanella were recently "arrested" on stage in Berlin, Germany as part of an elaborate prank perpetrated by band bassist Drew Roulette. Video footage of the incident has been made available online below. According to the bands publicist, the prank played out as follows:

"Two "police officers" interrupted the band's set to escort Hayes and Campanella offstage and issue arrest warrants for a vandalizing incident that happened the last time the band performed at the venue.
Back then, bottles were broken outside the venue and, while the owner was mad and had police contact the band, they had no proof so charges were never officially pressed.

Flash forward to last week when the band returned to the scene of the crime as part of their month-long overseas tour in support of "The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion," bassist Drew Roulette decided to play a practical joke on Hayes and Campanella and hired actors in police outfits waiting to arrest them."

[~~~***~~~]

The Fall Of Troy announced that they will be missing some dates of their ongoing European trek, though exact stops were not specified. The group had the following statement to issue on the matter:

We are both frustrated and heartbroken to have to miss out on this stuff, but we will be back in commission as soon as physically possible.

Also, we will be back to make up any missed shows as soon as we possibly can. We love you all SO much and really hope you can try to understand we didn't want any of this to happen…"

"It is with immense disappointment that Slayer must postpone its UK and European tour that had been set to kick off on November 18 in the UK, and take the band on 19 dates through Europe, ending on December 17 in Germany.

The tour will be rescheduled to kick off on March 7 in Manchester, England.

Vocalist/bassist Tom Araya has been under the care of a specialist for a back injury, and while he has already made substantial improvement, he is continuing on with doctor-prescribed treatment.
"Right now," said Slayer's manager, Rick Sales, "our main concern must be the full and permanent recovery of Tom, so we have decided to clear the calendar and give him the extra time he needs to concentrate solely on good health."

In last week's Weekly WTF, I reported on the insanity within Aerosmith. Was Steven Tyler in? Was he out? What the fuck was going on?

Well, this past week revealed no more clarity to the situation. With even growing golden nugget of information for the news people to chomp at, things just grew weirder and weirder. For instance, Tyler said he will spend 2010 working on solo projects:

"I don't know what I'm doing yet, but it's definitely going to be something Steven Tyler: working on the brand of myself – Brand Tyler."

Then came statements from guitarist Brad Whitford about replacing Tyler:

"I'm not sure how good that would look, it would largely depend on who we could get and who would want to do it. That's big shoes to fill," told Classic Rock. "Nobody could replace Steven or imitate him – he's one of a kind. But if somebody was willing to do it and the chemistry was right, why not?"

Joe Perry said that despite Tyler's departure, "Aerosmith is definitely NOT breaking up.", and he reassured fans that the remaining four members were "positively looking for a new singer to work with". He also stated that "you just can't take 40 years of experience and throw it inthe bin!"

Except now…

IT WAS ALL A FUCKING LIE??!

I really shouldn't have been surprised as I am, but needing this as a publicity stunt was just absolutely unbelievable and inane. Aerosmith doesn't need things like this! They're… Aerosmith… Except it wasn't for Aerosmith, after all:

"You know what it is, it's those people who are putting out Joe's album. Joe's doing a solo album. So people are paying attention to that."

Awesome.

People are paying attention to Joe Perry's solo album? Really? Because that thing is a piece of shit right down to the crappy artwork. I thought he bottomed out on his third solo album Once A Rocker, Always A Rocker back in the 80s - this makes that look like Led Zeppelin 2.

Karnivool's new album is THE best I've heard all year. I'm really hoping it does well in the U.S. The new video looks good, but All I Know is not nearly the best song on the album.

I'm confused, is Karnivool's new album a re-release? As I've had the album on my iPod for months now.
