New Wolf Parade music, new Interpol music, new EP from Richard Hawley, Steve Drozd of The Flaming Lips is unwell, and more.
The bit at the start
Good Tuesday to you all. I'm in a pretty chipper mood right now as I'm about to start in on a few weeks of shit hot gigs to go to. Before the end of the month (which will see me go to the Primavera Sound Festival) n the next few weeks I'll get to see a Dinosaur Jr./Built To Spill doubleheader, Real Estate, Mission Of Burma, Wolf Parade, The Antlers, Parenthetical Girls, Ted Leo and probably some other cool stuff that I'm forgetting about. But tomorrow night, tomorrow night is probably the one I'm looking forward to the most. Because tomorrow night (as I write this, today as it's published) for the first time ever I'm going to see Pavement. And that makes me really excited.
Beg, borrow, buy, steal or download this album.

This kicks fucking ass.
You news, you lose
Wolf Parade news.
If you're a Wolf Parade fan then this has been a pretty decent week for news and stuff. First up in the middle of last week the cover art for the upcoming Expo 86 was released. It looks like this …
… and the album will be out on June 29. Also this week, and far more important than the album artwork was a couple of promo tunes were released by Sub Pop as a teaser. I could tell you about them but it's probably easier if you just listen to them.
01 Cloud Shadow on the Mountain
02 Palm Road
03 What Did My Lover Say? (It Always Had to Go This Way)
04 Little Golden Age
05 In the Direction of the Moon
06 Ghost Pressure
07 Pobody's Nerfect
08 Two Men in New Tuxedos
09 Oh You, Old Thing
10 Yulia
11 Cave-o-Sapien
New Interpol.
It's been pretty quiet on the Interpol front lately. Carlos D has been doing film work, Paul Banks has been doing the Julian Plenti thing. And to be frank there hasn't been a lot from Interpol in years to warrant attention being paid to them. However despite how dodgy recent materiel from them has been the early stuff was so good that they're still a band I'll take notice of when they're releasing something. So I sat up an took notice when this message popped into my e-mail inbox last week …
Hello everyone.
We're stirring.
Please take a moment to visit our website: www.interpolnyc.com
We want to show you something.
And make sure you come back soon.
We will be posting important information and dates in the coming weeks.
Thank you.

To save you the trip there the page has one of those widget things for downloading a new song. It's called "Lights".
In fact you can download it here …
It's … okay.
New Richard Hawley EP.
False Lights From The Land is the new EP from former Pulp guitarist Richard Hawley. The 4 track release will be out on June 8th and includes 2 new original songs and covers of "The Ellan Vannin Tragedy" by Hughie Jones and the sea shanty "Shallow Brown."
Tracklisting:
01 Remorse Code
02 Shallow Brown
03 There's a Storm a Comin
04 The Ellan Vannin Tragedy
Oh, and artwork too …
Get well soon Steve.
Though the exact specific reason hasn't been announced yet The Flaming Lips have cancelled a number of gigs in the past week or so. Multi-instrumentalist Steven Drozd was hospitalised recently causing the cancellation of Lips gigs in Florida at Sunfest and at the Memphis in May festival.
Details of Drozd's condition are sketchy right now but drummer Kliph Scurlock left a message on Facebook on Wednesday saying, "Kliph Scurlock wants everybody to know that Steven will be just fine as soon as he gets some rest. He (and the rest of us) really appreciate your kind thoughts and well wishes, but please don't worry yourselves."
Subsequent to that Drozd himself tweeted, "Thank you, everyone, for your concern. I had to do this and I'm getting it together."
Best of luck to Drozd in whatever it is that's up with him, and I'll be blunt, I hope he wasn't back on the needle.
