Sufjan Stevens’ new album, lots of Pavement stuff, National reissues, new British Sea Power EP, Man Man's new record and more.
The bit at the start.
Hello all. I wasn't here last week as I was on holiday in New York. I said that I'd be missing in my previous column however I neglected to inform 411music editor Mitch Michaels that I'd be away. So apologies to Mitch, sorry boss.
Anyway, while I was away I saw Pavement twice, and they were very good, and Dum Dum Girls, who were pretty good too.
But now I'm home, and I really miss Brooklyn, so lets just get through this.
Beg, borrow, buy, steal or download this album.

They don't keep getting better, they just stay great.
You news, you lose
Hear the new Sufjan album.
The new Sufjan Stevens album The Age Of Adz, is out on October 12th and a number of tracks have made it online in recent weeks but if you can't wait till the release date the whole shebang is currently streaming on the NPR site here.
To be honest my first impressions of the record aren't that positive, it sounds like a record that needs to the worked on and I'm not sure that there's enough initial attraction there to make me want to bother. The last track is 25 ½ minutes long, which is sort of taking the piss.
Hate you Steve Goss.
Overall I have to say that I'm pretty satisfied with my Pavement related activities in the past week but there'll forever be part of my that resents and hates the dude who won the competition to play guitar with the band on Fallon. So Steve Goss, may maggots eat out your eyes you lucky sonofabitch.
He was good though as far as I can see, here he is playing "Unfair" with the rest of his new band here.
Maybe this time they'll include the good version of "Terrible Love".
It's only been a few months since The National released the much better sounding live than on record High Violet but on November 23rd the album will be re-released, in expanded form by 4AD.
The new two disc set features 8 bonus tracks including an alternate version of "Terrible Love", , unreleased tracks "You Were A Kindness" and "Wake Up You Saints", B-sides "Walk Off" and "Sin-Eaters", and three live recordings.

New Man Man album.
Man Man's follow up to 2008's Rabbit Habbits is nearing completion according to the band's front man Ryan Kattner. The record is provisionally titled Live Fantastic and according to Kattner, "I think it's really beautiful. There's some chaotic songs, there's just some downright depressing songs." The album was produced by long time Bright Eyes producer Mike Mogis and should be out on Anti early next year.
