The Low End Theory 11.18.11: The Sorry For The Wait Edition
Posted by Tony Acero on 11.18.2011

Yo yo yo!! Ok, so the originally planned column pretty much went to hell, but I have good reason! So check it out, there's this city, right? And it loves me, and I feel the same about said city. The city in question? Well, you already know. LAS VEGAS is calling my name! So, let's see if I can get a high quality column out in record time. What this means for us today, however, is that I cannot rightfully interview Paperboy as I feel he deserves much more attention and thought. The thing about the interviews that I conduct for the column is that they are typically pretty free-flowing and conversational. With that being said, I like to give the person I'm interviewing plenty of time and respect as an artist to answer and to consider their answers. Considering I'm pressed for time, I most likely can't do that for Paperboy, and this man deserves much more respect than that. As far as the Drake Review...well, it's ready to go, but I want to look it over a bit more. In the mean time, please check out Bill Wannop's review HERE. For a more humorous review of Drake's Album, I implore you to check out Ghostface's review HERE. Seriously, funny shit. Let's get to some positive news then, shall we? I mean, in a world where not even Demi Moore and Kelso can't make it as a married couple, we need some positivity!!!!....No? Ok then, let's move on to the beautiful Ms. Hope!

It's another beautiful day at The Low End Theory office, everyone! It's Thursday and it's officially been a whole week and a half without smoking for me! It was a long and difficult withdrawal period, but today I find myself on the right track to living an absolutely CIGARETTE free lifestyle! Wooooo! On the other hand, we've got a lot going on today so sit back & enjoy the ride!!!

Video of the Week
Wale Ft. J. Cole - Bad Girls Club
2 of 2011's hottest rap---wait, was that a....naaaaaah!!! Was it?!

- Drake recently said that he traded "club bangers" for storytelling in his new album. He didn't mention that the "stories" were more All My Children and less Illmatic.

- Ludacris recently went off on his mixtape 1.21 Gigawatts, dissing Drake and Big Sean in regards to the punch line rap verse. In My head, I saw Ludacris slapping the eyebrows off Drake's face. Is that wrong?

- Rick Ross recently confirmed the collabo mixtape with Drake called "Y.O.L.O. (You Only Live Once). I wish they'd call it "A.A.O-U.S.P.S.T.S.A.A W T...S!" (Acronyms Are Over-Used So Please Stop Titling Songs And Albums With Them...Stupids!)

- "Maybe your neighbors neglect you/Trouble erect you/Angels disrespect you/......And Heaven think twice bout ya." Take Care - The Director's Cut

Dre to Take a Break

In an interview with The Fader, Dre expressed that in 27 years he has not been out of the studio for any longer than two weeks. Wait, what? Two weeks? Raise yo hand if you think he's exaggerating!? Ok, I support any artist that just wants to take a break, and Dre IS an extremely busy man in terms of music. He's one of the most prolific and consistent producers in the game. Of course, this means one of two things, and I'll let y'all decide. Either Detox is done and he's focusing on Slim Da Mobster's and Kendrick Lamar's album before taking the long awaited break, or this is yet another arrow in the heart of the Detox-hopefuls. Either way, I've personally given up on waiting for the album. I'm of the mind that if it comes, it comes and if it doesn't Chronic 2001 was an amazing way to go out into the sunset. I'm of the mind that any person wants to take a break from what they consider work, then so be it. They are, after all, only human. I am particularly happy about him focusing and finishing up Kendrick Lamar's album, however. What do you guys think? Does this put a damper on the plans for Detox or is the album already done?

Mac Miller Gets #1 Album

It was 1995 when Tha Dogg Pound topped the charts and gained the coveted title of Number 1. They were the last independent artist to gain the number one spot. The most recent person to break that record would be Mac Miller. After reportedly getting numerous offers from labels, he opted to stay independent and went through Rostrum Records. It was the smart way to go because his ass shot to number one, selling over 148,000 copies of his album Blue Side Park. This obviously means more for the artist as there is much less going into everything else and much more going into the pockets of Miller. I applaud the man for sticking to his methods and become a success story. The kid can only go up from here. I particularly like the head of Rostrum Benjy Grinberg's stance on the entire situation. He was quoted as saying, "We try to apply those lessons to everything we do...I'm not on some sort of revolutionary [anti-major] kick. I just know there are better ways of doing things." I love that! I've always been a bit of a hater in terms of those independent people or fans who feel that they are above a Major Label. His reply is simple; his way is easier and more economical. Simple, honest and to the damned point. Have you guys purchased Miller's album yet? I'll readily admit that I haven't, but if enough of you tell me to, I'll consider it!

Busta Rhymes and Mystikal to Cash Money Records

That! Just! Happened! Busta and Birdman recently released a clip to confirm the signing, where they talked about their long standing relationship. Busta calls the signing one of the most defining moments in Hip-Hop. While I won't go that far, I will say that it's a hell of a surprise. Busta says that the mutual love for the game and the maturity of both men will help to make this particular union one to remember for ages to come. Cash Money is slowly building an empire. True, the players in the circle are not to my liking as you can tell from previous columns, but if they're going to add anyone then Busta is quite the coup. That's the thing, though. I mean is it just me, or does Busta Rhymes almost seem bigger than Cash Money as a whole? I know that the label has Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Drake but I just don't see Busta as their equals. I've always looked at Busta as a veteran, one to look at as a relic of the past - and no, that's not a diss, it's a compliment. So to see him with the likes of Cash Money, it just seems odd. Maybe it needs time to settle, but we'll see what comes to it. In other-although related-news Mystikal, fresh outta prison, can also call himself a label mate with Weezy and Drizzy. Mystikal is said to have signed the dotted line with Cash Money to help pad the roster with more subpar rappers. In all seriousness, I don't know too much of Mystikal's talents outside of one or two songs, but I fear that those "one or two songs" is really all he's known for...

Chris Brown

Walter Reyes:
What's up Low End-ers!!! I'm back and let me just say working multiple jobs sucks balls! Not being broke doesn't though, I just wish I had Chris Brown money so I could act like a dumb fuck and say stupid shit on twitter out of anger for being criticized, then minutes later regretting them and deleting them for fear of being criticized even further for being a douche on top of a douche. Oh wait…you don't need money for that, since being a dumb fuck doesn't cost anything but record sales. At least we'll see if Chris Brown's latest twitter bursts will do exactly that.

Last week after various twitter comments by his so called "haters" surfaced he decided to let loose on all those who hate on him. He went on to inform everyone to go fuck themselves, unfortunately for him it's those same fans that purchase his material that he was telling to fuck off. I don't think understanding stardom is all that complicated, but let me let you in on a little secret about being a celeb: people see, listen and read everything you say, ya douche bag! Fans are followers, they take time out of their day to see what you are up to so when you take time to critique their infatuation for you and your life and make them feel like lifeless peasants as you sure as hell made them feel by saying, "When you consume yourself around others lives too much, u won't have a brain and life of your own!" which you followed with, "All these other artist are so worried about their image!!! Fuck that!! I'm ME.. If u don't like it!! Don't but my shit! Lol!" Your chick-beating ass sure as hell is asking for all the hate you can handle and then some!!! Oh and adding "Lol!" at the end of your tirade is a pussy move!

I wish Chris Brown would do for our lives what he is doing for the lives of his neighbors in West Hollywood and that is move the fuck out it!!! You think a fat kid with cake was happy…think again! A white person with one less obnoxious pop star in their building is ecstatic!!! Funny thing now is that this dumb fuck wasn't satisfied with acting a fool on twitter and let loose AGAIN regarding comments made about him and Ike Turner episode with his fine ass ex-girlfriend Rihanna. "I don't say s**t to anybody and everyone feels its cool to attack me. GROWN ADULTS!!!! that s**t happened three years ago!" he Tweeted. He went on to add: "I know alot of you wack @ss(OLD) celebrities probably wanna f**k my ex but talking s**t on me won't get u far." "MY MUSIC DOESNT PROMOTE VIOLENCE nor will it ever! only thing it will increase is the pregnacy rate! (sic)." "I wake up thinking of living my life...YOU wake up thinking of me," Then, as the young immature douche he is, Brown deleted the messages. Can someone please take his toys away and send this motherfucker to his room to think about his actions and how catastrophic they can be to a career that miraculously survived hurricane Rihanna!!! Rich and 22 is like sick and 92…one wrong cough and your ass will fall out and you'll die…watch yourself Chris, your racing dogs on this ice and with a mouth like that you might actually find yourself needing a handicap parking pass because "GROWN ADULTS" have grown man strength, something your fancy feet ass would know nothing about!!! You better check yourself before you wreck yourself because twitter trash talk is bad for your wallets health.

I wasn't able to get the complete interview from our lovely little Ms. Anastasia Flores, but I did want to give you guys a nice preview, so get ready for next week when we meet Anastasia!!!

"If ignorance is bliss, then knock the smile off my face"
Now before I begin, can anyone tell me where this quote is from?

Well, if you haven't guessed yet, it's been said by one of the baddest motherfuckers on the face of this earth Mr. Zach De La Rocha. As you all might know..I'm a HUGE Rage Against the Machine fan and of course in favor of equality for all. So when I saw this a few days back, I literally became inspired.

The RATM inspiration recently spoke out on the "Occupy" movement, and also wrote a tribute-like poem for all of its participants beginning with:

"This poem is dedicated to the Occupy movement whose courage is changing the world. Stay Strong. We are winning."

. ..And followed with what I found to be a deeply inspiring, motivating poem:

The beginning spills through city veins Into the arteries
And under powers poison clouds
We move like the shadows
Through the alley ways
Through nightmares bought and sold as dreams
Through barren factories
Through boarded schools
Through rotting fields
Through the burning doors of the past
Through imaginations exploding

To break the curfews in our minds
Our actions awaken dreams of actions multiplied
A restless fury
Once buried like burning embers
Left alone to smolder
But together stacked under the walls of a dying order
All sparks are counted
Calloused hands raised in silence
Over the bonfire of hope unincorporated
It's flame restores tomorrows meaning
Across the graveyards of hollow promises
As gold dipped vultures pick at what is left of our denial
And the youngest among us
Stare at us stoned like eyes determined

And say
Death for us may come early
Cause dignity has no price
At the corner of now and nowhere
Anywhere
Everywhere
Tomorrow is calling
Tomorrow is calling
Do not be afraid"

-Zach De La Rocha

Kind of Reminds me of his empowering Rage Against the Machine songs. I'm all about empowerment and standing up for ones beliefs, so this sets a perfect example of a peaceful protest in a not so peaceful world. So what are you waiting for? Get out, and fight for what you believe in!

*now before you say this has nothing to do with hip hop news, make sure you understand WHO Rage Against the Machine is...and what they stand for musically, and intellectually.

Dre is my #1 favorite producer of all time. I have nothing but respect for him and his track record since Straight Outta Compton. I also have respect for him wanting to take a break especially after 27 years of work. BUT, at this point I'm NO longer anticipating Detox. I'm sure this would've came out a LONG time ago and I refuse to believe it's finish and it's just sitting around somewhere just awaiting a release date. This album is no longer on my radar, however, I would still buy it IF it drops. Imagine such a thing, lol. Regarding Busta signing with Cash Money, I'm really not surprised and I can care less about it, even though I'm a long time Busta fan. Busta saying "it's one of the defining moments in hip hop" is quite laughable because it's FAR from that. I also look at him as a veteran, as he's been in game dating back to when groups like A Tribe Called Quest were in their prime and there was NO Cash Money or Lil Wayne.

My god Tony...do yourself a favor and check out Mystikal's 'Unpredictable' & 'Tarantula' albums. Dude is a BEAST, and hopefully, Mannie Fresh will have something to do with most/all of his beats. Also, I hope the YM features are bare bare bare minimun on either of their albums. Mystikal's 1998 toilet turds >>>> YM roster. There's nothing subpar about dude at all.

Props to Mac Miller. I don't think he sucks, he's music just doesn't appeal to me.

Detox is never gonna come out lol. Slim The Mobster has a pretty nice mixtape out. Sounds like a mix of Dr. Dre/Red Cafe/50 Cent.

Can't wait for a new Mystikal album.

I dont think Chris gettin mad about people talkin shit about him makes him a douche. And i guess bustin a flow now adays makes you a rapper like doing a photoshoot makes you a model. But her lower petite half is nice. I enjoyed the Mac Miller paragraph and am curious to hear what Busta and Mystical do with Cash Money. And that poem is dope. Glad to see and read about the side of people that are for the occupy movement and not just news casters constantly bashing it on the grounds that we have no aim or knowledge. Thanks for another informative column pimp, even if Vegas took away from it.
