Music's 3R’s 07.14.12: Kanye & Kim Play Dress-Up
Posted by Nick Krenn on 07.14.2012
From Kanye West dressing Kim Kardashian and American Idol seeking new judges to Britney Spears digging Vanilla Ice, Kendra Wilkinson defending Jessica Simpson's baby weight and more, 411's Nick Krenn breaks down the Right, the wRong and the Ridiculous from the week in music!
Hello, I'm Nick Krenn, and I'm bringing you the newest edition of the most impolite 411mania column, Music 3R's, where I examine the Right, wRong, and Ridiculous in music. Before we start, here are some things I suggest you read.
The Love/Hate News Report written by John Downey. John counts down his favorite albums of the year so far, and most of them have been reviewed on Earbuddy in case you're looking for them on 411mania (where you won't find any, we have to save room for Flo Rida).
One more plug.
Earbuddy.net, a music site that I run outside of 411mania featuring both John Downey and Chris Bell.
Let's look at some R's!
Kendra Wilkinson Sticks Up For Jessica Simpson
I think most of our female readers (if there are any) will say that the main downside to becoming a mommy is putting on the baby weight. However, in the end it's a small price to pay for bringing aboard another addition to the family, seemingly becoming more important to the mommy than the guy who helped her make it. Dads, you know what I'm talking about. Well, Jessica Simpson has been receiving a lot of criticism recently for still being fat after giving birth recently. Simpson reportedly gained 70 pounds while pregnant, which most OBGYNs will tell you that you're not supposed to eat everything in sight because all weight gain is okay. Sounds like Simpson used the old reasoning, I'm putting on weight anyway. Nonetheless, she just had the baby back in May. Seventy pounds is a lot to take off.
One person coming to Simpson's defense is all around motherly role model (and former playboy model) Kendra Wilkinson, who said the following about the situation. "That just breaks my heart. I feel for her. I was in the same boat. People just need to mind their own business. That's a woman who just gave birth. Her first priority right now is her child. Her first priority is not losing the weight. You should be proud of her for that. A lot of people just dump their kids off at nannies and lose the weight overnight. We should all be proud of her for being real and taking control and making priorities."
Perhaps, the only intelligent comment Wilkinson has ever made. And she sure looks good naked. Right, fellas!
Vanilla Ice Oblivious to Mockery
Vanilla Ice has made a career of owning/disowning his single hit, "Ice Ice Baby". It seems that he's returned to the "owning" phase as he was delighted by footage of Britney Spears dancing to the song. Ice called the moment "amazing" and called the video of Spears dancing to the song for an X-Factor audition a "classic moment."
Says Ice: "I love it. Simon Cowell giving her a high five? That is AWESOME! Britney Spears is a legend ... and she rocked out to MY song? That's f**king amazing!"
Oh, Ice, don't you realize that "Ice Ice Baby" is always done as a goof by the performer as a way of getting those, "Oh, no, he didn't!" reactions. And I think Britney was just dancing along because it's such a stupid song. Still, I find Ice's oblivious reaction to be quite endearing for the building contractor.
American Idol Struggles to Hang On
American Idol, the one time KING of music reality competitions, is finding it harder to survive each year. The television program recently lost two of its judges, Stephen Tyler and J-Lo; however, Randy Jackson continues to remain because the guy has nothing better to do than produce shitty pop-manufactured artists. Now American Idol producers are scrambling to find new judges to pair with Jackson. The current name being thrown around is Mariah Carey.
Previously, Carey was being considered for the X-Factor, but Britney Spears and Demi Lovato were eventually chosen because they're better singers. At least, I think that's the reason....anyway, a source to American Idol said, "She's in play. They are in serious talks," when referring to Carey joining the show. Adam Lambert was also named as another choice for judging the competition, and it appears that Lambert is up for doing it. "If 'Idol' wants to talk to me about judging, I'd be more than flattered to have that conversation,", responded Lambert.
It sounds as if Fox is the only one that doesn't know American Idol should be coming to a close. With ratings declining each year, and judges exiting as well, it only seems time to bring an end to the franchise. It only seems fair to the use the shows budget to make the final season of Fringe completely mind-blowing.
Kanye Picks Out Kim's Clothes
When I was a little kid, my mom would pick out my clothes for school. Well, it seems that Kim Kardashian gets the same treatment from Kanye West in her adulthood. For Kardashian, changing a lightbulb can prove to be a challenging task, so having her boyfriend pick out her wardrobe makes sense.
The news of Kanye playing dress-up with his girlfriend was revealed on an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, where Khloe Kardashian told Kris Jenner than Kanye helps Kim get dressed. Khloe made reference to the situation when talking about how her husband Lamar Odom used it as an exmple of why Kim and Kanye work so well.
Khloe said, "Lamar was like, 'Now if anyone is made for one another — it's those two. Kanye was like 'No, Kim you need to do your ponytail slicked back, I want it straight' — he told Kim how to do her hair basically today."
Then Kim chimed in with, "He's like, 'Wear this, wear this,' he puts outfits together."
DONDA. There are also rumors of Kanye telling Kim to get rid of her glam extensions and to "make her style sleeker". So behind every fine woman, there's a rapper with a questionable sexuality.
