Who da fuck…

Whooooddy WHOOOOOO!!!! Sup y'all! It's Thursday night so that means I am roughly 2 hrs away from a Jack and Coke and you are currently reading the best hip hop column that isn't written by a fake Ghostface! This week is rushed (ain't they all), but that don't mean I haven't paused my busy college life of boozing and cruising to give you guys a bit of hip hop news! Last week, I shared some thanks, and I thank you once again for continuing to check in. Speaking of checking in, I got someone that wants to talk to y'all.

Hello all my hip hop lovers who have missed me! In case you forgot, I'm Crystal Hope and I'm just droppin by to tell you all that I indeed will be back sooner than you think! I've got a lot of tricks up my sleeve, so make sure you stay tuned to one of the best hip hop columns on 411mania! & a special Thanks to Tony, for holdin down the fort while I've been gone. See you all soon! Xoxo

Good to hear from ya, fam! News? News!

- Nicki Minaj claims to build off of her most recent album. You know, the one that was a continuation of her previous album, which was a continuation of her previous album…

- 50 Cent says that French Montana is the new Ja Rule and he'll end his career like he did Ja. 50…you didn't do that on your own.

- Big Sean has said that Eminem recently called him to say that they need to get on a track together. This worries me that Em is back on his shit…

LIL WAYNE RETIRING?

We've heard this at one time or another the last couple of years, and I personally am 100% behind the decision – if it's true. Retirement seems to be a term that is thrown around a lot, and if you ever wondered what one parallel of rap and wrestling is, then look no further than the art of retirement. Whether you're Jay-Z or Ric Flair, there's a bug that festers and bites over and over, even long after you may want to lace up the boots or drop the mic. The reality of it all, however, is that passion can only last for so long – it appears. Hell, even writers on this very site simply lose the drive to produce, only to later come back and shell out work that is just as good - or better – than that of which they did before.

Anyways, I'm getting off track. Wayne recently stated in an interview that he will most like retire after Tha Carter V due to being a bit burnt out considering he's "been rapping since 8 years old." He said that there is a lot of things he wants to do at his age of 30 and it doesn't always include music. If he doesn't find passion in what he may have once considered art, then I support the move full force.

My only issue is that he seemed to have make this decision a while ago, and yet we're still hearing new work from him that – admittedly – is just not good. Gone is the metaphorical and hilarious Lil Wayne of Tha Carter II and No Ceilings fame. Now, we get stretches of comparisons and songs that make little to no sense. If Wayne has retirement on the mind, then perhaps a fifth Carter isn't the greatest idea. To me, it wouldn't be a final hoorah; it'd be something that was subpar and anything but a Swan Song. Similar to Jay Z and his album Kingdom Come, it shouldn't be the last thing he goes out on.

Your Turn: Should Lil Wayne just retire now and get it over with?

50 CENT DON'T MAKE NO GOT DAMN SENSE

For whatever reason, this week was pretty 50 heavy. The man was seemingly everywhere, with a new track that includes Eminem and Adam Levine (who the fuck thought that'd be possible 3 years ago?), and other various nonsense. One thing that struck a chord, however, was a statement he made in an interview with Carson Daly. Here's what ol big head had to say:

"Beef doesn't actually sell records. It creates that barbershop/beauty salon conversation. Hit records sell records."

Oh…really, Fifty? Is that so! Man, I ain't heard this much bullshit since 50 Cent last opened his damned mouth. What makes matters worse is that in his newest song – you know, the VERY ONE he was promoting, he disses Young Buck and The Game, telling them to "suck a dick." 50 Cent has made a majority of his career moves OFF of beef. Whether it was his G-Unit counterparts, Kanye West, The Game, or even Ja Rule (whose sole existence helped out Get Rich or Die Trying just a tad), 50 feeds off of "beef." Hell, half the time, he creates it just to sell shit – which is second only to The Game, a person he seems to love/hate all the damned time.

Aside from him being a benefactor of the art of beef, he's also very wrong in the fact that beef doesn't sell records. Ok, perhaps people don't slam down money to get the album that disses The Game, but this country LOVES conflict, and it definitely adds to the "intrigue" of the artists involved. The entire beef between Kanye and 50 – no matter how artificial we may think it was – boosted both their numbers; I'm sure. Keep in mind, that was to be the end of 50's career, which harkens back my piece about retirement. Just more shit from 50's mouth that we can't do anything but scoff at…

Nicki Minaj
-by Joseph Paige Jr.

At this point, we might as well give Nicki Minaj the honors of not just being "Douche of the Week," but dub her the Douche of the Decade. She's appeared on this list more times than she has in the Billboard Top 10. In her latest attempt to steal the spotlight from her fellow American Idol judges, she has taken to attacking former Idol judge Steven Tyler. I'm sure you've all seen the statements and tweets exchanged from the two so I won't go into detail. Not because I don't take pleasure in reiterating, but because I have 10 more minutes left on my lunch break to complete this.

[Editors Note: That's why ya got me!]

Steven Tyler: You just have to give your opinion. It wasn't hard for me, but I would imagine it's hard for some people, and they need a manager to say 'Shut the f--- up, and just give them your opinion.' These kids, they just got out of a car from the Midwest somewhere and they're in New York City, they're scared to death; you're not going to get the best [out of them]. ...If it was Bob Dylan, Nicki Minaj would have had him sent to the cornfield! Whereas, if it was Bob Dylan with us, we would have brought the best of him out, as we did with Phillip Phillips. Just saying.

Nicki Minaj's reply via Twitter: Steven Tyler said I would have sent Bob Dylan to a cornfield??? Steven, you haven't seen me judge one single solitary contestant yet … I understand you really wanted to keep your job but take that up with the producers. I haven't done anything to you. That's a racist comment. You assume that I wouldn't have liked Bob Dylan??? why? black? rapper? what? go f--k yourself and worry about yourself babe. … LOL lets make him a shirt that says 'No Coloreds Allowed' then escort him down 2 Barbara Walters so he can tell how he was threatened w/guns. … When Steven 1st went on Idol he was ridiculed by his peers & fans alike. Called a sell out. So what does he do? Ridicule the next judge.

To put things in a nutshell Tyler made a comment that Nicki wouldn't be fit for judging all talent, all read as "non-urban". This may seem like a great opportunity to pull out the race card in which Nicki did, but after further evaluation Nicki should have kept that card stuffed in her clutch.

What Steven was pointing out is the fact that the Idol panel has always been diverse and this season seems to have gone for names rather than a cluster of individuals who have a keen ear to all types of talents. Nicki you are douche for jumping the gun and once again disrespecting another elder. First Lil' Kim, Barbara Walters, and now Steven Tyler. I feel like you have no one else left to beef with but Betty White. And the day you come for Betty White will be the day America comes for your fix-a-flat ass!

Last week, my boy Kenji talked a bit about a poop stain on the rap world. This week, he gives us some exclusive footage! Like I said, you never know what to expect from this rap-loving masturbator.

A few weeks ago I was invited to Problem's studio out by Universal Studios to take some pix and video of his studio session with singer Omarion (formerly of B2K). Problem is the front man for Diamond Lane Music Group & League of Starz and is best known for his hook on E-40's 'Function' song along with his own single 'T.O.' featuring his buddy Skeme. Omarion recently found himself as part of Rick Ross's MMG (Maybach Music Group) and the song they're working on in this video is called "Admire" which features Problem & Tank (singer). The track is part of Omarion's latest mixtape release called Care Package and I was able to get some exclusive footage seen here first!

Both Omarion and Problem are hilarious and humble dudes who have separately created classics of their own and made an imprint in the music industry, so be sure to check out both of their most recent mixtapes. #BANGERS
