Music Intro
This week's music intro comes courtesy of T.I. with the release of his latest album Trouble Man. I give my thoughts on the album at the end of the column, but what do you guys think of it?

News
Ma$e Finally Free From Bad Boy
Ma$w

You know it is a slow newsday when Ma$e is in the top stories, but here we go. It appears that Ma$e has finally been released from his Bad Boy contract after 16 years with the label. I was under the assumption that he and Diddy came to some agreement long ago, after the release of Welcome Back, but I guess I was wrong. Ma$e commented on finally being free from the label:

"I've been in that contract for 16 years," he explained. "Yeah, the other day he let me out of it, so big shout-outs to Diddy. I guess he woke up feeling good and he wanted to do something good."

"At this point, I don't really want to be under nobody from the aspect of being tied in a long, long contract," he added. "It's kinda like breaking up; you don't want to jump into a new relationship."
"You know how Puff is," Ma$e explained. "I love him but you gon' cut your arm off to get free."

It is not like Ma$e is making any headwaves in terms of music, and he really has himself to blame, by leaving hip hop when he was near the peak of his popularity. Many will complain about Diddy's methods in not letting Ma$e out of his contract, but you have to think that Diddy was a little vindictive. I mean, Ma$e left him high and dry, after Diddy had put much work and effort in to making Ma$e a big deal. Diddy was just trying to get some of his investment back. At the end of the day it was Ma$e who signed the initial contract, and he should have to fulfill his end of the agreement.

No word on what Ma$e is currently working on or when he plans on releasing a new album.

Odd Future Beat Down Fan
Odd Future

Odd Future is in the hot seat, after footage leaked showing them in a physical altercation with a fan at one of their shows in Texas earlier this month.

While the group will likely have to settle this matter in court, they have issued a public statement stating how the fan threw the first punch. They have even tried to use the Tweets of the fan, where he posted details of the altercations as well as told the group that he will post a picture of the ‘huge check' when he gets it.

No matter who threw the first punch, Odd Future is totally at fault for the incident. They need to learn how to keep their cool, and this is the reason why artists have security. They should have never laid a hand on the fan and should have let security take care of him. I have little doubt that this issue will go away and that Odd Future will likely just issue the fan a check.

Trey Songz Injuries Woman With Money
Trey Songz

In another bizarre story, Trey Songz was recently arrested for assault after an altercation outside a strip club. According to the ‘victim' at about 4am, after the two were arguing outside the club, Trey proceed to throw a sum of money at the victim, striking her in the left eye and causing substantial pain.

I know that people have been arrested for some stupid stuff, but unless Trey threw a whole roll of quarters at the women, there is no way that he should have been arrested for assault. I guess Trey will think twice next time he tries to ‘make it rain'.

What I Am Listening To
Got time to listen to both Chief Keef and T.I.'s new albums this week. Starting with Keef first and foremost, I have to admit that it was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. With that said it was not very good either. The album did have some decent production which I think did help to hide some of the lyrical limitations of Keef. In reality Keef is a character who plays up his dangerous and controversial attitude, but in terms of hip hop skills, you likely could have wandered the streets and found plenty of others just like him. He had a viral hit, with a remix by Kanye West, and this album is a product of that, but at the end of the day this will likely be the peak of his career as he fades into obscurity.

On the other side of the coin we had T.I., who released Trouble Man his first album since he was released from jail. While I felt that the album started off a little slow, T.I. really makes up for it on the last ½ of the disc. You could easily mix this record with his previous offerings and they would flow together nicely. This is really a testament to T.I. as he has a knack for giving new producers a chance to show their skills on his records, and Trouble Man is no different. There are some forced hit single's on the album such as the track with Lil Wayne, but overall Trouble Man is another solid release from T.I.

Speaking on the top albums of the year, stay tuned to 411mania as we will count down the top 25 albums of 2012 in the coming weeks!
