Posted by Ben Czajkowski on 06.05.2006
Barenaked Ladies and Beck complete newest albums. Courtney Love to publish memoirs. The Witch to begin recording. A new collection of Third Eye Blind (Yes, it's still okay to like them). Drowning Pool homeless. Announcement of several singles and new videos. Listeners' Lounge features metal bands covering metal bands: GNR, Pantera, and Soundgarden.
Prelude to the News
Hail to you, faithful reader! Or, if you're new to this, welcome to All You Cannot Live Without, 411Mania's premiere music news report for rock/metal/alternative music updates.
This week, guys, girls, and trannies, I'm relaxing in Berkeley, California. Alright, I'm not relaxing at all. I'm busy running around at the 2006 NACURH conference. If you know what the fuck that stands for, I give you mad props. It's a conference for residence education, I guess you could say.
Tomorrow, I am heading off to finally see the city of San Francisco for the first time. Today, I hiked 6 miles to see the Golden Gate Bridge fuck a huge distance. Still, it's breathtaking. If anyone is interested in pictures, I've taken close to 200. I'd be happy to share. The most common theme in them: Home people tanning. Good fucking times.
I took a crash course in making podcasts, in which, I wrote a concert section where The Village People toured with 2Pac, whose new single featured Macy Gray. To close out the report, Slipknot toured some elderly retirement homes to try to diversify their popularity. Oh, it was completely inane and insane.
Oh, how I love you all.
Matt Kraatz wins last week's contest. I asked you to name the two places where the quote "Get busy living or get busy dying" could be found. I was aiming for a Mudvayne song and "Shawshank Redemption." But, it is true that the quote is a Fall Out Boy song. I'm not a picky motherfucker when it comes to this stuff, so Matt wins a copy of a new release of some sort. We'll work something out. Stay tuned for June's contest to spice things up a bit. It's going to be a bit harder.
Again, it was kind of a slow music week, and I don't really have time to dig as much as I want to for a feature section. Things will be back to normal next week before I head off to Chi-town for a week.
My Not-So-Sweet Little Bitches

The band has begun work on the follow-up to 2003's Out of the Vein. No word on when the disc will be released, but I'd say an educated guess puts it out around early spring next year.
Rockers He Is Legend are eyeing the title Suck Out The Poison as the title to their new album which they expect to release this fall through Solid State. Their frontman was just featured in the new Project 86 video. Suck Out the Poison will be the follow-up to 2004's I Am Hollywood.
The group I could have sworn died about a year ago, Powerman 5000 have chosen their track "Wild Word" to serve as the first single from their new album Destroy What You Enjoy. The song will impact at radio on June 19, while the album will arrive in stores on August 1 after being pushed back again and again.
Cold side project, The Witch will begin recording new material later this week with plans to post a track online shortly. Cold's core of Scooter Ward and Sam McCandless have been busily working on new material for The Witch in Florida as of late. The Witch came to be after Ward announced that Cold was done with the music world, which, since then, has been retracted.
Seems like Walls Of Jericho keep getting stonewalled by their record label. The female-vocaled metal band found that their upcoming, new album With Devils Amongst Us All has been bumped back to an as-yet undecided fall release date via Trustkill.
An e-card for Korn's impending Live On The Other Side DVD release can be found online here. Korn fans have been promised the DVD of a lifetime with this release. Hopefully, it's been worth waiting for. The DVD will see a June 20 release date.
After releasing two albums on Wind-Up Records, Drowning Pool said bye bye to the label. About a year ago, the band announced the addition of ex-SOiL vocalist Ryan McCombs, who replaced previous front-man Jason "Gong" Jones. A U.S. tour with Silent Civilian and Stereo Side is set to kick off on June 13 in Springfield, MO.
Dark New Day have plans to hit the music scene once again with a new video! The band will shoot a video for the first single, "Follow the Sun Down", from their new acoustic EP entitled Black Porch on June 13. Black Porch will arrive in stores later this summer.
A new single from Edgewater will make its way to radio at the end of the month, on June 26. "Caught in the Moment" is taken from their self-released album We're Not Robots. This has no release date, but you can purchased the item on eBay.com. Audio can be heard on their MySpace page.
The Black Crowes will release a two disc album titled The Lost Crowes of rarities on August 29. The disc will include music from 1993's Tall and 1997's Band, which were never officially released. A DVD version of the 1992 home video entitled Who Killed That Bird On Your Window Sill will also be released on August 29.
Courtney Love (ex-Hole) announced that she will finally publish a memoirs book. Entitled Dirty Blonde: The Diaries Of Courtney Love, the book will be packed with journal entries, drawings, fliers, pictures and other reprinted memorabilia, and feature hand written notes on some items by Love herself. The book will contain details on her life from childhood and up to her current career as a crazy lady, including her life with her late husband Kurt Cobain. Previously, the book was said to cover "falsified" abuse allegations on Love. A release date for the book has yet to be announced.
Superfluously worded rocker Beck announced that his latest album has been completed and could hit stores as early as this fall. The set will be the follow-up to last year's Guero, which has sold over 500,000 copies. The new album was produced with Nigel Godrich, who worked with Beck on both Guero and Sea Change.
Trivum bassist Paolo Gregoletto offered the following update on the band and their new album earlier this week. Here's what he had to say:
"Paolo here, just giving you an update before we head out early tomorrow for tour. We have finished tracking all of The Crusade, 15 songs total. Mixing has already begun and should be done in the next few weeks! We are incredibly excited with what we have accomplished in the studio. There will be much more info about the new album in the next few weeks."
The Crusade is due out October 3, of course, on Roadrunner, and follow-up the smash-hit Ascendancy.
I have some exciting news to share with you! Barenaked Ladies has revealed a multi-culture release platform for their new disc. Here are the dates:
Sept-08-2006 (Fri) in Switzerland, Germany and Austria
Sept-11-2006 (Mon) in the UK
Sept-12-2006 (Tue) in USA and Canada
"Easy" will be the first single from the disc and will be released at the end of June.
Watcher's Wing
Yeah, I'm corny with the names. Bug off.
Anyway, you can check out new videos from these bands!
36 Crazyfists' video for their track "I'll Go Until My Heart Stops" has been made available for viewing online here. It comes from the group's new album Rest Inside The Flames, which is due out next Tuesday.
Demon Hunter will film a video for the song "One Thousand Apologies", which is set to be the second single from their most recent release, The Triptych. The video will be done with director Darren Doane (Deftones, Thursday, Every Time I Die, Sinai Beach) in July, shortly after the conclusion of "The Undying Tour," which is odd because shouldn't it be in support of the tour? I still say they're going to head out next year, too! Here's to hoping.
Finally, you can check out the video for Stone Sour's new track called "30/30-150" online. It premiered this weekend on "Headbangers Ball." You, too, can be mesmerized by the ability to count down to zero, too, by watching the track here.
