Some more details have surfaced on the upcoming Slipknot 2-DVD effort Voliminal: Inside The Nine. Here's the skinny from the official press release:
"The first disc, titled Voliminal, is a 80-minute film made up of rapidly edited scenes shot on handheld digital cameras, for 28 months; during the making of Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) and on "The Subliminal Verses" world tour. This is not a slick concert film with interspersed backstage footage. Nor is it a travelogue of fantastic sights and fabulous babes. This is survival in the belly of the beast."
"The second disc of Voliminal: Inside The Nine features exclusive, in-depth interviews with each of the band members. The discussions cover 10 years of band history in unflinching candor. 'The band is 10 years old and I felt that we needed to talk for real,' Crahan says. 'We're going into our places of choice, individually, and you're being invited all the way in. Hopefully you'll be able to stomach what is real.' In addition to personal band interviews, the second DVD will include bonus live footage taken from festivals and television performances from around the world and the music videos from Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) - "Duality," "Vermilion," "Before I Forget," "The Nameless" and the controversial "Vermilion 2," which was never officially released. Fans will also get an up-close view of the "death masks" Slipknot use in concert."
The outing will see a December 5 release. Meanwhile, in the same press release band percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan had fun being inflammatory and had the following to say:
"I'm not worried about going anywhere because we're only getting better. We constantly remind all of you that we don't push the envelope because we are the envelope."
Cold frontman Scooter Ward has changed the name of his solo project The Witch, it will now be known as When November Falls. Ward will officially begin recording material for the debut effort from the 'group', which carries an album title of The Series Of Emotion, on November 1. In the meantime, rough demos of the two new tracks "Symphony For A Mad World" and "Let The Rain Begin" have been posted online. The Series Of Emotion is tentatively set for a March 2007 release date.
The Deftones and Thrice are reportedly planning to tour Australia together next year. The Deftones will release their new album Saturday Night Wrist on October 31. The Deftones released a single for their track "Hole In The Earth" in the UK. The outing was released in the following two formats:
CD Single:
01 - "Hole In The Earth"
02 - "Hexagram" (live)
Maxi CD Single:
01 - "Hole In The Earth"
02 - "My Own Summer (Shove It)" (live)
"Hole In The Earth" Video

Dark new Day will release their sophomore album early next year. The band is currently in Atlanta recording the album.
Victory Records has won a lawsuit filed by Hawthorne Heights. A court said that it was "absurd" that the band be able to terminate its contract with Victory. Hawthorne Heights will have to fulfill the their contract which includes two more studio albums. This decision does not affect the counter-suit filed by Victory.
AFI will re-release their latest album, Decemberunderground, as a series of 7" vinyl singles together in a box set. The set will also include an unreleased track titled "Fallen Like the Sky". An exact release date has not been announced.

A bonus DVD is being prepared for inclusion with the special limited edition version of the album and will feature two extra bonus tracks along with the making of the album itself. The latter feature is being helmed by Todd Bell, who also directed by the band's The Dehumanizing Process DVD. A release early next year is expected.
Dead Poetic have dropped off of their previously announced run with the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Lorene Drive and Madina Lake. The band has not given a conclusive statement, as to why. Dead Poetic's new album Vices will see an October 31 release and will feature both a guest performance and guest production from Deftones frontman Chino Moreno.

"First off,I know it's been a while since we put anything here, that is half to do with sheer laziness and half to do with me not having my computer for about a month, but we're back now bitches haha!So the Family Values Tour was a blast and we would like to give a shout out to everyone on the tour who we spent every waking minute with for 2 very hot months,we miss you all and look forward to seeing and playing with everyone again. We also want to thank all the fans that have stuck with us for these past 18 months we've been touring and recording and criss crossing the globe, but I regret to inform you there will be no more shows this year, but we do have good reason. We will start tomorrow and the writing process of our next album, you guys made this one more than we could have imagined starting as a little band from Tennessee,we never expected you guys to buy over 400,000 copies of The Autumn Effect, that is amazing, thank you guys so much. This much I can promise you everything you have given us we are going to give back to you,we have grown and changed in so many ways in this past 18 months, everything you have taught us,shown us,admitted to us,asked of us,has been building inside of us,and is about to be released through strings, and drums and words and the excitement is overwhelming me knowing the things we are capable of now that we were not when we wrote The Autumn Effect,I will be keeping you posted and am working on starting a video journal,so keep your eyes and ears open,it's time to for chapter 2."

Unwritten Law's former label, Interscope Records, seem to be trying to counter the band's new Hit List album by releasing one of their own at the same time. Check out the blog from the band below:
Don't be confused - one of our old record companies (Interscope) knew we were putting out The Hit List so this week they rushed out a compilation of old songs and called it "20th Century Masters-The Millennium Collection." Huh? Pretty sketchy.
The Hit List, is coming out on December 26 and its the Unwritten Law authorized "best of" album. We've been in the studio most of the year re-recording all of the old songs so that they are new again. We've delayed this album a couple of times already 'cos we just wanted to get it right.
Metallica will release a DVD titled The Videos: 1989-2004 containing 21 videos, a DVD version of the 1989 VHS 2 of One, the making of and two versions of the video for "One" and other documentary footage. The DVD will be available on December 5.

The band will begin writting for the follow-up to 2005's '17 Days' within the next month or two and recording could begin late this year or early 2007. In an interview with Billboard, front-man Brad Arnold said, "Instead of just going in and trying to write a record, we're going to go in and jam and have some fun and let the record happen. The first record we wrote in four years, the second record we wrote in four months, the third one we wrote in four weeks. I don't want to do that anymore." A new album could be in stores by March or April 2007.

One track with Lustmord, possibly one with Timmy C (Audioslave, Rage Against The Machine), Brad Wilk (Audioslave, Rage Against The Machine), and Johnny Polonsky. Just ran into Tim Alexander (Primus) and he sounds like he's interested in doing a track as well. I've approached Evil Joe B to produce and engineer once i have enough of a track in place, and may approach Botrill or Mulder for one of the others. In the meantime Matt Mitchell, our guitar tech, is engineering while we're on the road. One bit at a time."
