The Low Down on the Underground
Former Creed front-man Scott Stapp was arrested last week at his Palm Beach County Florida home. He is charged with one count of domestic assault with intent to commit a felony and was held without bail last night. The wife of Stapp pleaded for authorities to come to the couple's home as she told a dispatcher her husband was "on drugs and pot" and had just thrown a bottle at her, according to an emergency dispatcher's tape released Tuesday.
"He just threw a glass bottle at me," She said in a hysterical call Sunday. "He just came home, he's wasted . . . he's been out partying all night."
She also said Stapp had guns in the home. Asked how many, she said, "I don't know, a lot . . . I don't know, five or 10."
Stapp was arrested Sunday and initially charged with aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony. The charge was reduced to a misdemeanor Monday. Before police arrived, his wife called authorities again saying, "He's hiding all the drugs, he's still under the influence right now."
Things that make me glad my dismal life is so much better than his.

(hed)p.e.'s new album Insomnia has been pushed back to a July 17 release.
Following their summer tour, 311 will enter the studio to begin work on the follow-up to 2005's Don't Tread on Me. Front-man Nick Hexum recently discussed their plans for album and said:
I would say we kind of go through a general cycle of making a more straight=ahead album that comes quickly and then we kind of rotate to more of a departure where we take a longer time making the album and inventing more new styles. And albums like 'Grassroots' and 'Transistor' are more like groundbreaking albums, where the 'Blue' (self-titled) album was more like a culminating of touring and came out more quickly. "So due to that back-and-forth thing, we're due for more of a groundbreaking, take-a-long-time-with-it album. We don't know when it's going to be done. We're not going to make any deadlines and promises, but it's time we slightly reinvent ourselves.
The Deftones have begun work on new material for their next album while currently on the road. Frontman Chino Moreno had this to say:
We're going in there and playing as five of us in the room with just our instruments, no other distractions," he explains. "That's how we started out, basically, when we first started the bandus in the garage, no ProTools or anything to get us ahead of ourselves. We'd just play things over and over again, until we remembered itthat's the rawest way you can do it, and the best, I think.
In addition, Moreno also has plans to release a new album from his Team Sleep project by early 2008.
Collective Soul will release their new album Afterwards on August 14.
