Dancing About Architecture 07.10.07
Posted by Ashish on 12.31.1969

The bit at the start

Hello folks, no column last week due to family and health and family health issues.

Slow news weeks so this will be a short one and I remained swamped until Monday so I'm putting off the half year roundup until next week so I'll have time to do it properly.

Beg, borrow, buy, steal or download this album.

The Wrens – Abbot 1135

I've now put their entire catalogue in this section.

The Dancing About Architecture MySpace band of the week.

Olly Dabblers

If for no other reason then to shut Tim O'Sullivan from the sports zone up.

Recommended song: Cider In The Park.

You news, you lose

Texas, I won't come home.

Fort Worth will prove that it's not just Austin that hosts all the cool festivals in Texas (and to be fair, it's only right, the whole state is roughly the size of Pluto (not the cartoon dog, the planet/explanet/former moon of Neptune/ball of space ice)) when it hosts the Wall Of Sound Festival at LaGrave field. Explosions in the Sky, the Books, Midlake, Pinback seem to be the most prominent names on the 40 strong bill with Baptist Generals, Ghostland Observatory, Peter and the Wolf, the Paper Chase, Om, Lymbyc Systym, the Sword, and Spectrum (featuring Sonic Boom of Spacemen 3) also already announced.

The whole thing kicks off on September 22nd with plenty more names to be announced.

Roskilde was last week.

I think this pretty much covers it.

ATP ATP ATP.

The latest round of performers at this December's Portishead curated were announced and they're almost enough to make me perhaps maybe think about contemplating enduring a Butlin's holiday camp in the depths of the British winter.

Thurston Moore, Boris, Ladytron, Sparkle

All bands I've never heard of, maybe I'll check them out
