Rock News of All You Newbs

So, now that Serj Tankian is striking it out on his own, what's up with the rest of System of a Down? Scars On Broadway, a group which features SOAD drummer John Dolmayan and guitarist/vocalist Daron Malakian, are trying to clear up some misconceptions about the band's material:

"Lately, there have been songs leaked onto YouTube labeled as "Scars on Broadway demos." We want to make it clear that this music is from a disbanded project from four years ago, and is in no way affiliated with Scars on Broadway. Any music that will be leaked or released from Scars, will be done so directly to our fans through our official websites. Please stay close to scarsonbroadway.com and myspace.com/scarsonbroadway for all official updates."

The group recently began tracking their debut album.

Since Nine Inch Nails have parted ways with Interscope Record, fans should expect a greatest hits album, in the near future. In fact, it and an album of remixed tracks are currently in the works.

Buckethead's Young Bucketheadvol. 1 and Young Bucketheadvol. 2 will both see a release on DVD on December 11. According to the press release, Young Bucketheadvol. 1 will feature:

"the Deli Creeps' complete concert on 11/24/90 at the Cactus Club in San Francisco. The lineup is Maximum Bob, Pinch Face, Tony Black, and Buckethead, who delivers a stunning performance. The next sequence captures the band's soundcheck earlier that day, with lots of great guitar riffing and a powerful Maximum Bob performance. On the weirder side, "Buckethead in the Basement" presents Buck up close in a translucent mask, playing cinematic keyboard synth accompaniment to a buddy's insane ravings. This completely unrehearsed footage captures Buckethead's improvisational genius on keyboard, including some great "Giant Robot" passages. "Buckethead's Backyard Solo" presents the full 14-minute guitar blitz (the Guitar World footage shows only a portion). Buckethead goes from shredding to bass-string-popping to "Hog Bitch Stomp" to horror movie themes, original shards, and a sublime "I Love My Parents." This truly has to be seen to be believed."

While Young Bucketheadvol. 2 will include:

"the Deli Creeps' complete 4/3/91 concert at the Kennel Club in San Francisco. The lineup is Maximum Bob, Pinch Face, Tony Black, and Buckethead, who delivers a spectacular performance with the camera just a few feet away. The next segment captures the band's legendary San Francisco debut, at the I-Beam on 9/1/90, with Buck, Maximum Bob, Pinch Face, and bassist Saucy Patches pull out all the stops. Seldom has Buckethead, who plays shirtless, been so animated in his playing. The set includes "Dream Girl" and "Hog Bitch Stomp." Next up is a hysterical backstage sequence later that night. In "Buckethead in the Park," the masked speaks -- about growing up in a chicken coop, his heroes and inspirations, favorite methods of mayhem, and even does the Jowls speech. Honest."

Candlebox has signed with Silent Majority Group for the release of their new studio album which is due out in the spring. Two tracks from the album "Surrendering" and "Stand" are available on their MySpace page.

Radiohead's six studio albums released by their UK label Parlophone and the I Might Be Wrong live album will be released as a box set on December 10. A limited edition USB thumb drive containing the set will be available. Pre-orders are being taken now at this location. Radiohead's In Rainbows will see a physical international release on December 31. A U.S. physical release has not been set.

The Gorillaz D-Sides, which was scheduled to be released on November 6, will now see a November 20 release. The album includes a collection of b-sides and other rarities.

AFI will release a new live album titled I Heard a Voice -- Live From Long Beach Arena on November 13. Three tracks from the album are available on MySpace.

Genghis Tron have wrapped up work on their forthcoming new album. Dubbed Board Up The House, the effort was recorded at Godcity Studios with Converge's Kurt Ballou behind the boards. The outing will feature the following track listing:

01 - "Board Up The House"
02 - "Endless Teeth"
03 - "Things Don't Look Good"
04 - "Recursion"
05 - "I Won't Come Back Alive"
06 - "City On A Hill"
07 - "The Whips Blow Back"
08 - "Colony Collapse"
09 - "The Feast"
10 - "Ergot"
11 - "Relief"

Speaking on the effort, the band had the following to say:

"After well over a year of very hard work, we're incredibly happy and relieved to announce that we've finally finished our second album, 'Board Up the House'. We finished tracking and mixing at Godcity Studio in late September, but we just completed the mastering process a few days ago. The album sounds...huge. I'll leave it at that. We've never been prouder. However, in lieu of spouting some self-serving hyperbole about achieving our twisted vision and/or making the best and most unique GT album to date, we'll let the tunes speak for themselves. Keep your eyes and ears open for a preview track in the near future. Once our album comes out in February, we'll be spending the rest of the year bringing these new tunes to audiences everywhere. In addition to many North American tours, we're making plans to return to the UK and also to embark on first mainland European tour. Get excited about it."

A February 19 release date has been set for Tron's forthcoming new album Board Up The House.

My Chemical Romance look to be planning to release a special edition version of their latest effort The Black Parade on December 11. The effort is expected to be released as a 2xLP set and on CD.

Ending much speculation, The Blood Brothers have decided to call it a day with the following statement being issued by the band:

"After 10 years of making music as The Blood Brothers, we have made the collective decision that our time together has come to an end. We feel extremely fortunate to have spent such a deeply memorable and amazing part of our lives with each other. At this point, however, we feel it's best that our futures move forward on separate paths. We'd like to express our sincerest thanks and gratitude to all the bands we've played with, individuals who have helped us make our records, and fans who have come to our shows and picked up our music throughout the years. Your friendship, support and love hold such a profoundly special place in each of our hearts. We hope that the memories you attach to our music are as fond as those you have given us. Thank you and take care, we'll miss all of you.

The Mars Volta have shed some light behind the inspiration for their upcoming new album The Bedlam In Goliath. The singer said longtime fans can expect typical Volta on this new record — epic songs that run well over 10 minutes, huge guitars (some provided by Chili Pepper John Frusciante), and loads of experimental instrumentation. You can read the entire story behind the album here. As far as concept albums go, this one probably takes the cake, in my book. The effort will see a January 29 release date.

Sevendust will enter Tree Sound Studios in Atlanta, GA late this month to record their next album The 7th Chapter which is currently set for a March 4 release date. As previously reported, the band will also issue a 2-CD/1 DVD set dubbed Retrospective 2 on December 11.

Tantric's new album The End Begins is set to be released early next year. The first single "The One" features guest vocals from Candlebox vocalist Kevin Martin and will be released to radio soon.

A deluxe edition of Finger Eleven's latest album Them vs. You vs. Me is now available on iTunes. The new version includes the b-sides "Sacrifice" and the title track "Them vs. You vs. Me" as well as live versions of "Paralyzer" and "Falling On". The bonus tracks can also be purchased individually. How kind of them.

As well, a deluxe edition of Three Days Grace's latest album One-X can now be purchased on iTunes. The digital release includes three music videos and an acoustic version of the Chris Isaak track "Wicked Game".

Mindless Self Indulgence will be releasing an expanded and re-mastered edition of their latest album, You'll Rebel To Anything, on January 22 in North America. In addition to the new mastering job, the new version of the album comes with 4 bonus songs along with a video for the track "Molly".

Army Of Anyone's Ray Luzier has been recruited to handle the drums for Korn when they hit the road again early next year for a previously announced run through the UK and Europe.

H.I.M. will be filming their November 14 and November 15 shows at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles, CA for an upcoming live DVD release. Live footage shot during the same shows will also be used to cut a video for the band's current single, "Bleed Well". A release date and title for said DVD are still pending.

Speaking to MTV.com, Killswitch Engage frontman Howard Jones revealed that his other band, Blood Has Been Shed, may resurface in the not too distant future. Speaking on it, he had the following to say:

"We'll probably do something else again," he said. "It's still just drummer Justin Foley and I, guitarist Corey Unger and bassist John Lynch, and we'll probably record something again. We might drum up something here, because the band's been around for quite a bit of time, and we need to celebrate our anniversary and put out something, maybe do a few new songs. We'll reconnect at some point, because it's something we've tossed around. It's just a matter of everyone connecting."

Lamb Of God recently gave some insight to MTV.com regarding their future plans for 2008, which include a new DVD and a new album. More on that can be found here. As previously reported, Lamb Of God will be reissuing their latest album Sacrament on December 4. Packaged as a new "Deluxe Producer Edition", the 2-CD set will feature all of the studio tracks from the album separated down to their individual instruments for use in remixes and such.

Rob Zombie recently spoke with reporters about the upcoming DVD version of his recent Zombie Live release, a potential White Zombie box set and more. You can check that out here.

Warning: Side Effects of the Touring Updates May Lead To Moshing

Finger Eleven's recent concert in at the Berkeley Church in Toronto will be available in full HD on the Xbox Live Marketplace on November 6. The set includes the band's hit single "Paralyzer" which entered the top 10 on the pop charts this week and is No. 6 on the iTunes single sales chart.

Sixx A.M. won't tour, no they will tour, no they won't tour. Despite a report earlier this week that would hit the road in February in a MySpace blog Nikki Sixx stated,

"There has been a lot of rumors that we might tour. I wanted you to hear from us directly that there are no tour plans at this point. This is a very magical project to us and we do plan on making other albums and the dream would be to tour some day, but that day is not as close as radio and press is announcing."

Hatebreed plan to film their upcoming "Stillborn Fest" run for future release. Here's what band frontman Jamey Jasta had to say on the matter:

"These shows are going to be a great way for us to wrap up the touring cycle on "Supremacy" and get to work on our first ever live DVD. We hope to film almost every one of these shows, so be there and be ready to go off! This will be our first tour on US soil since Ozzfest, and we cannot wait to play all these cities, as they are some of our favorites!"

As previously reported, the 2007 iteration of the "Stillborn Fest" will hit the east coast later this year with Hatebreed, God Forbid, Necro and At All Cost on all dates, along with various other acts at select stops.

The band recently signed with Fat Lady Music for the release of their self-titled album which is due out on January 22.

Seemless have checked in with the following update:

"Seemless will be playing our last (4) shows of the year in a few weeks. We've had a long year and are looking forward to getting re-inspired to write new material. We may do a one-off or two here and there, to debut new material, or play places we haven't been yet, but we will definitely not be touring at all for awhile. We are officially free agents and also need to talk about moving forward with or without a label. It's an interesting time in music and we want to make the best decision possible. It will obviously take some time and we're looking forward to change and what the next few years might bring us. Countless rumors have been circulating that we are "breaking up", and it's simply not true. All of us have been busy working on other projects, but I know for a fact that Seemless will probably never break up. As long as there's a basement for us to jam in, we'll always be together.

A little personal update for everyone: Jesse's been working on some solo stuff, on top of a really cool metal project that will probably surprise a lot of people. Pete got back together with some old friends in a lil' ole' band called OVERCAST that some of you may have heard of. They re-recorded some old material and a couple of new songs, which should see an early 2008 release. I've heard some of it and it sounds absolutely pummeling. Jeff's been writing and doing some tech work here and there, and I have been very busy touring and writing with my brothers in Unearth and will continue to do so moving forward."

The aforementioned shows run as follows:

November 29th Elmira, NY - The Amp
November 30th Bedford, NH - Mark's Show Place (Feat. Birch Hill Damn, Frozen)
December 01st Worcester, MA - Ralph's Diner (Feat. Frozen, Kanerko)

It should be noted that the December 1 performance will also feature a collaborative tribute to Faith No More set with members of Seemless, Frozen and Beyond The Embrace performing together.
