This Column Is Brought To You By…

Happy Monday-After-Another-Pointless-Holiday. Hopefully, you spent it engorging yourself on more flightless birds. I hope your fat and happy, fat ass. No one will ever love you if you don't look like Tom Cruise. Hit the gy--hey, look! A dough nut....

Oh, and how about that Black Friday shopping, eh? Dropped $500 of someone else's money. I love credit. And younger, naive sisters.

Rock News of All You Newbs

Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor has run into some legal problems regarding a planned website for fan-remixed content. Universal Music Group, the parent company of Nine Inch Nails former label Interscope Records, has pulled the plug on the remix website, remix.nin.com. The site had been designed as a hub for fans to submit various remixed versions of NIN tracks, but due to the ongoing legal battle between Google and YouTube, UMG has decided against the site. Despite leaving the label earlier this year, the label still owns all of the NIN masters.Nine Inch Nails' CD/DVD "Year Zero" remix effort, Y34RZ3R0R3MIX3D, saw a release on November 20. However, one could argue that it's just a powerplay because Reznor has been so anti-music industry, as of late.

In the same vein, Kiss front-man Gene Simmons has blasted Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead for seeking different business models to sell their music, blaming them for being a large part of the decline of the music industry. "The record industry doesn't have a f*cking clue how to make money," Simmons told Billboard. "I open a store and say 'Come on in and pay whatever you want.' Are you on f*cking crack? Do you really believe that's a business model that works?" Simmons also stated that he doesn't plan on making a new Kiss album because he doesn't know how he'll get paid for it if people expect to get music for free. He also went on to rant against illegal file sharing college students too. "Every little college kid, every freshly-scrubbed little kid's face should have been sued off the face of the earth. They should have taken their houses and cars and nipped it right there in the beginning." But I don't have a house or a car! Come take my virginity, RIAA!

3 will re-release their latest album The End Is Begun on February 19. The new version of the album will feature a cover of Pink Floyd's "See Emily Play" as a bonus track; while the included bonus DVD will feature live performances of the songs "Monster", "Bramfatura" and "Amaze Disgrace". The promotional videos for the tracks "All That Remains" and "Alien Angel" will also be included as well.

The Haunted frontman Peter Dolving is working on a new side project under the name of O, with more details to be revealed in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, The Haunted recently began writing new material for their next album.

The Fall Of Troy bassist Tim Ward has dropped off of the band's ongoing tour with Clutch and Coheed And Cambria as a result of needing a break from touring. The band will continue on with a temporary replacement and have issued the following statement on the matter:

"Hello all, What this message entails Andrew and I bring to you with very heavy hearts... We have been in a band with Tim for almost 6 years now and we love him very much, but he is burnt out on touring right now. So he is going to drop off of this tour with us to go home and take some time off. No hard feelings from us.
Our friend Frank is going to be playing bass with us for the remainder of our tour with Coheed and Cambria and Clutch. He is an amazing musician, person, and someone that has been close to us as a friend, and around the band the entire time we've been playing. We welcome him with open arms to have some fun and cause some ruckus, we hope you will too. And last but not least, this is NOT the end of this band, in ANY, way, shape or form! =). Do not worry, or start celebrating, just stay tuned. See you at the shows!!!

Drowning Pool recently had their gear stolen from their rehearsal space at Universal Rehearsal in North Dallas, TX. The band has insurance that covers theft while they are on the road, however the insurance does not cover equipment that is stored at their rehearsal space.

Socialburn has officially called it quits. The band's last album The Beauty of Letting Go was released in 2006 via IRock Entertainment, which folded shortly after the release of the album.

The band is currently supporting Korn front-man Jonathan Davis on his solo tour.

Radiohead front-man Thom Yorke has let the world know the band's grand scheme with their donation-based sale of their recent album In Rainbows:

...there was none. Contrary to what seemed to be the case, the band had no plans of turning the industry on it's head as many analysts and bloggers speculated. It seems it was an idea thought up by their management who were hesitant to sign a contract without a finished record. The band kept the plan close to themselves with Yorke keeping even his wife in the dark about it and compares the move to leaking the album themselves, only allowing some profit to be made.

Switchfoot vocalist Jon Foreman will be releasing four six-track EP's over the next year. The first is due out on November 27 with the other three to following with each season, winter, spring and summer. Clips of each track included on the first EP, The Fall can be streamed here.

For now, the new track "Magic Fingers" can be previewed online here. Furthermore, the band will embark on a Canadian run with High On Fire and Cancer Bats in March. The trek will be followed by a European run in May and a U.S. run after that. Dates for all of the tours are currently pending.

Black Light Burns guitarist/frontman Wes Borland has checked in with the following update:

"We're home from tour and enjoying a little R n R. Round 2 was a blast and we hope you all enjoyed the mustache rides. We're getting busy again in December. Going back in the studio to do a few cool things and then making a couple of videos. Next year we'll be focusing on solidifying distribution in Europe and planning to hopefully make it over for the summer festivals. Thanks for hanging with us on the road everybody! More updates soon. -Wes"

Velvet Revolver have been forced to cancel their upcoming tour in Japan after the Japanese government has refused to issue the band visas due to past drug convictions. The band, who were set to play a series of four concerts between November 26th and November 30th, are now appealing the decision.

Hawthorne Heights guitarist Casey Calvert was found dead in his sleep this afternoon before the bands sound check in Washington, DC. A D.C. Fox News affiliate has said that Calvert used an inhaler for acute asthma and, pending official toxicology results, this condition could have caused his death. A statement from the band is available below.

"Today is probably the worst day ever. It's with our deepest regrets that we have to write this. Casey Calvert passed away in his sleep last night. We found out this afternoon before sound-check. We've spent the entire day trying to come to grips with this and figure out as much as possible. At this time we're not sure what exactly happened. Just last night he was joking around with everyone before he went to bed. We can say with absolute certainty that he was not doing anything illegal. Please, out of respect to Casey and his family, don't contribute or succumb to any gossip you may hear. We don't want his memory to be tainted in the least.

Casey was our best friend. He was quirky and awesome and there will truly be no others like him! His loss is unexplainable. As soon as we know more we will let you know."

Warning: Side Effects of the Touring Updates May Lead To Moshing

Led Zeppelin have denied an earlier report that the band would be touring with The Cult in 2008. A statement released stated that "no decision has been made" on whether there will be any dates following their December 10th reunion concert at London's O2 Arena. Led Zeppelin front-man Robert Plant has told Rolling Stone Magazine that he plans to hit the road with Alison Krauss in early 2008 to promote the pair's collaborative album, Raising Sand. In other Zeppelin news, the band is reportedly rearranging their songs for the big reunion show. Aging front-man Robert Plan has found he can no longer hit his classic high notes. They've been rehearsing in a lower key because his voice is deeper. According to UK's The Sun,

"He and guitarist Jimmy Page have had a few heated discussions about the upcoming gig...Jimmy is a bit rusty and Robert has been struggling with the high notes. To avoid any embarrassing vocal wobbles with the world watching, they decided it would be best to transpose the songs in a lower key."
