Rock News of All You Newbs

Last week, Vancouver's Econoline Crush released their first album in 7 years, entitled Ignite; It hit shelves on January 15. The lineup features vocalist Trevor Hurst, Kai Marcus (Methods of Mayhem, Noise Therapy) on guitar, Brent Fitz (Theory of a Deadman) on drums & Scott Whelan (Chyshuga) on bass. The album was recorded, mixed and produced by Sylvia Massey-Shivy (Tool – Undertow) in Weed, California. The band will be opening for Three Days Grace and Seether on their Canadian tour. To hear more of the band, check them out on their MySpace. Ignite is Crush's first independent album after releasing 4 albums through EMI Music Canada. (Thanks, Will, for this information.)

Welcome to another corporate sellout, folks. With all the cuts and changes EMI has been making these past few weeks, allegedly, EMI will allow its artists to be sponsored by corporate companies, according to reports. The proposals, which could see Coldplay's new album Prospekt released with corporate branding, are expected to feature as part of an extensive shake-up of the company.

Panic At The Disco have revealed that their upcoming new album will be titled Pretty. Odd. and will be released on March 25. While the band did include odd punctuation in their new album title, they have officially dropped the exclamation point from their name.

Filter are putting the finishing touches on their new album Anthems for the Damned. The album is due out in April or May via Pulse Recordings, a joint venture between vocalist Richard Patrick and producer Josh Abraham.

Strata have parted ways with frontman Eric Victorino. Victorino says, in a statement on MySpace:

Following a very long period of careful consideration it is with a heavy heart but a newfound lightness in my soul, I've come to the conclusion that it's time for me to leave strata and move on with other artistic endeavors.

as part of the band i got the opportunity to travel to multiple countries, play shows all over the place, meet great people and get to know the streets of so many cities from coast to coast... i am so grateful for everyone's support and love and am indebted to you all for so much i could never repay, my only hope is that we'll all look fondly back and smile. i am thankful to everyone who came to shows throughout the years, everyone who supported the band emotionally, personally and professionally. Thank you for all of the magical moments and memories i will forever cherish.

No word, yet, on who will replace Victorino.

Black Light Burns are working on a new release featuring a number of covers, two b-sides from their debut release Cruel Melody, a handful of remixes and a DVD featuring 4 videos from the band, as well as live footage and more. In addition, the band has also begun writing new material for their next album.

From A Second Story Window have booked studio time in March at Syracuse, NY's More Sound Studio to track their new album Conversations which is expected out this summer.

In Flames have confirmed the track listing for their new album A Sense Of Purpose:

08 - "The Chosen Pessimist"
09 - "Sober And Irrelevant"
10 - "Condemned"
11 - "Drenched In Fear"
12 - "March To The Shore"

An April 4 release date has been set for the effort overseas. In Flames have inked a deal with Koch for the North American release of their new album. The effort will see a release through the label on April 1.

Sevendust has now set Hope And Sorrow as the title to their new album which is scheduled for an April 1 release date.

Five.Bolt.Main will release Complete, a CD/DVD which includes the Venting and Live albums with a bonus live track as well as videos and interview footage, on February 5.

10 Years new album Division has been pushed forward to an April 8 release. The first single from the disc "Beautiful" will be going to radio on February 4.

Rise Against have announced that they are writing and demoing for their next album. The band states in a blog not to expect the new material too soon, but to keep an eye out for more details.

Limp Bizkit's 2001 performance at the Rock in the Park Festival in Nuremberg, Germany will be released as a CD/DVD on March 31. The release includes the band's original 85 minute performance and a 73 minute remix version. That's a lot of crappy nu-metal for you!

System Of A Down guitarist Daron Malakian told Revolver that his new band Scars On Broadway is his priority for the foreseeable future. "System is not my band right now. I'll go back and do that someday," Malakian said. "I'd expect a second Scars album before I'd expect another System album." The band, which also features SOAD drummer John Dolmayan, are almost fnished recording their debut. The band isn't sure yet what label the project will be released on, but plans on a release sometime this year.

Buckcherry's 15 has reached the platinum mark for shipments in excess of 1 million units. The album currently sits at No. 65 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. 15 was originally released in April 2006 via Eleven Seven Music and later picked up by Atlantic Records due to the success of the lead single, "Crazy Bitch"

Staind front-man Aaron Lewis will be filming his upcoming dates at the Mohegan Sun Cabaret in Uncasville, CT on February 22nd through the 24th for an upcoming DVD release. Lewis also plans to release a solo album containing both live and studio recorded tracks.

According to a recent Myspace bulletin sent out by the band, the Deftones have set Eros as the title to their new album which they have been hard at work on as of late. A release later this year is currently planned.

Darkest Hour will be filming their January 31 performance at Alley Katz in Richmond, VA for a future live DVD outing.

Def Leppard are planning a March 18 release for their new studio album Songs from the Sparkle Lounge.

Jon Foreman, vocalist for Switchfoot, has released is Winter EP. Foreman will release another EP in the spring and summer.

Bush front-man Gavin Rossdale is working on his next solo album and plans to release it sometime in April. Rossdale began working on the disc last year in Hawaii with producer Bob Rock.

Korn guitarist James 'Munky' Shaffer has exited the band's ongoing European tour for personal/family reasons. Speaking on his departure, band frontman Jonathan Davis had the following to say:

"We fully support Munky's need to be home right now and because we want to come through for all of our European fans, the tour will go on. It's what Munky wants us to do, too. We promise to give it our all every night!"

Warning: Touring Updates May Lead To Spontaneous Moshing

Slipknot has issued a statement regarding their future touring plans, it reads: "Don't believe everything you read. We're not ready to confirm or deny anything regarding touring and recording, but when we are ready you will be the first to hear it directly from us." Also on March 4th, Bauhaus release "Go Away White", their farewell record. After its release, the band is splitting up for good and that album is to be Bauhaus's 'final statement'. It's a pretty big deal since it's their first album in 25 years, and their last.

Mmmmm.... new Filter.... *drool*

But if Stone Temple Pilots are having a possible reunion, and Filter is coming out with their first new CD in years.... does that mean the side project Army of Anyone is over -- forever?

Marshall, I believe that Army of Anyone is actually through. Their record didn't sell well and they weren't getting the publicity they wanted. So Patrick broke the band up basically.
