Rock News For All You Newbs

Apparently Axl Rose thinks that the new, or old depending on how you look at it, Guns N' Roses' album Chinese Democracy is worth more than the $13 million that Universal has sunk into the disc. Rose is reportedly negotiating for more money before releasing the masters to the label.

3 Inches Of Blood have dropped off of the remaining dates of their trek with The Black Dahlia Murder, Hate Eternal and Decrepit Birth. A statement from the band reads as follows:

"Unfortunately we've had to drop off the remainder of tour with The Black Dahlia Murder, Hate Eternal, and Decrepit Birth. We will also be missing our Canadian dates, Feb 16-23, with Rammer. It was not an easy decision to make, but due to the rapidly declining weather in the remaining areas of the tour we have decided that it would be unsafe to continue touring in these conditions. We have had a great time with all of the bands on this tour, so it is especially disappointing to have to cancel our remaining appearances. We are committed to rescheduling our appearances in all the cities we will be missing, but when the weather is warmer and the roads less treacherous. Sorry to disappoint anybody, but we would rather stay safe and live to play another day."

As Linkin Park prepares for their upcoming North American tour, front-man Chester Bennington is predicting a much shorter turnaround for the group's follow up to 2007's Minutes to Midnight.

"We sparked a new kind of life into what we do during the writing of Midnight," Bennington tells Billboard.com. "We want to keep that going. I think we're in the mode, and I have a good feeling we're going to put another record out really quickly."

Bennington says Linkin Park will be bringing gear on the road to capture ideas that come up on tour. Besides the North American jaunt with Coheed and Cambria and Chiodos that kicks off February 12th in Omaha, NE, the group is also planning to host another edition of its Projekt Revolution tour this Summer.

If Linkin Park doesn't bring back their old sound on the "new" album, then they can forget about getting my hard earned dollar for it. Minutes to Midnight is a horribly $#!tty generic rock sounding LP record. Bring back the old sound, or don't and continue alienating your longtime fan base.

Oh yeah, and Guns n' Roses has been dead since the Use Your Illusion albums (way to go out with a bang though). Sink more money into Chinese Democracy? Why? The album will never see the light of day. More money? Not going to happen Axl. The shine and luster wore off the GnR name 10+ years ago pal.

Gotta agree with Nick about Linkin Park. Listen to their latest once and then gave it to my wife. "Here honey, there's some sap on here you might like." Haven't listened to it since.
