The bit at the start

Hello

*yawn*

Sorry, my friends had a party last night, I didn't make it to sofa till 6 for a couple of hours sleep and I'm currently only being held up by the coffee coursing through my veins. I reckon there's more of that then blood at this point

So, sleepy.

Beg, borrow, buy, steal or download this album.

The Wrens – The Meadowlands

Still the best album of the decade.

You news, you lose

Better than sex.

I'll just come out and say it. I'm pretty sure Tom Waits is my hero. But the mad old fucker doesn't do many tour dates and last time he was in Europe I wasn't in quite the same financial situation that I am now.

Rumours abound that this summer Ol' Razorblade larynx will be on tour in Europe and North America and talk around the water cooler here indicates that there will be a Dublin date (that's right, we only have one for the entire country).

Let me make this clear, I will fucking cut someone if it means I get tickets for Tom Waits, you have been warned.

4 tet.

Four Tet has a new 4 track mini album due for release via Domino on April 21st in the UK and May 6th in the US. It'll be available on CD, digital download and two 12"s. The cuts apparently sound like "techno with an Afrobeat/Krautrock sensibility." The release is called Ringer by the way.

Tracklisting:

01 Ringer
02 Ribbons
03 Swimmer
04 Wing Body Wing

They're actually not that bad a bunch of guys.

My Morning Jacket announced the tracklist for their upcoming album Evil Urges last week. ATO will be getting it to the sales racks on June 10th.

Tracklisting:

01 Evil Urges
02 Touch Me I'm Going to Scream Part 1
03 Highly Suspicious
04 I'm Amazed
05 Thank You Too
06 Sec Walkin'
07 Two Halves
08 Librarian
09 Look at You
10 Aluminum Park
11 Remnants
12 Smokin From Shootin
13 Touch Me I'm Going to Scream Part 2
14 Good Intentions

Hopefully it'll be good like At Dawn and It Still Moves and not not good likeZ.

Feeling low.

Tiredness leads to awful puns.

Can you play bass?

Do you live in Minnesota?

Do you not hate Mormons?

In that case then maybe you could be in Low as they're looking for a new bassist. Matt Livingston (who originally replaced Zak Sally) left the band, as well as Alan Sparhawk's side project Retribution Gospel Choir, last week. A statement from the band reads ...

"Low has lost another bass player. Mimi [Parker] and Alan [Sparhawk] are beginning to wonder if maybe THEY are the problem. Matt Livingston is no longer in Low and Retribution Gospel Choir. He is going through some personal situations right now that have made it impossible to remain with the band. Steve Garrington will be playing bass for both bands on tours coming up this year."

Oh wait, that Garrington already got the gig. He won't last, you chance will come.

I hope Wilson won't be fired.

It's pathetic, I know the name of the guy who does mail order for Merge Records, the North Carolina indie that has brought you Arcade Fire, Neutral Milk Hotel, M. Ward, Caribou and a whole host of other brilliant, brilliant bands. They've recently launched a digital music store which currently sells content in MP3 and FLAC versions and coming soon, album art and liner notes.

In addition to all their currently available and easily gettable material you can also buy exclusive out of print material, first up is Superchunk's 2002 live compilation The Clambakes Series Vol. 1: Acoustic In-Stores East & West and coming next month is a free Rosebud's remix album.

Cool.

The rough with the smooth.

Mark Lanegan and Isobel Campbell are set to release their second album together. Sunday At Devil Dirt is the follow up to 2006's Ballad Of The Broken Seas and is due out on May 5th in the UK on V2/Cooperative Music.

No touring plans as of yet as Lanegan is otherwise engaged right now with Gutter Twins, his project with ex-Afghan Whig Greg Dulli who released their first record recently.

Tracklisting:

01 Seafaring Song
02 The Raven
03 Salvation
04 Who Built the Road
05 Come on Over (Turn Me On)
06 Back Burner
07 The Flame That Burns
08 Shotgun Blues
09 Keep Me in Mind, Sweetheart
10 Something to Believe
11 Trouble
12 Sally, Don't Cry

What will Penfold do?.

Danger Mouse is a man in high demand, it just goes to show that violating the copywrite of the Beatles and Jay-Z can pay off big if you do it right.

In addition to The Rapture, Gnarles Barkley, MF Doom and a host of others the latest name to invite the man with the coolest fro in music is Beck.

The pair will join up to work on Beck's follow up to 2006's The Information.

And that's about it.

The YouTube video of the week

Is taking a nap.

If you can you should go to these gigs.

Talk Radio

The bit at the end

Yay it's over. Now I can go to bed.

I promise I'll do better next week.

Semi permanent plug for my blog. A ton of stuff about football, a little about Casiotone For The Painfully Alone, Pavement, new music from Tapes n' Tapes and some Arcade Fire cover versions.
