1. Nine Inch Nails – "Discipline"
A new Nine Inch Nails song dubbed "Discipline" surfaced this week. While the origin of the song has yet to be entirely revealed, band frontman Trent Reznor has left the cryptic post of "two weeks!". Meanwhile, the band has been teasing an announcement for May 5, and among other things, has offered up the following about it:
"We have some tour info coming... SOON (I know you love that word) as well as some other info about something else, too."
You can pick up the new single by heading over to nin.com and signing up real quick for it.
Thursday frontman Geoff Rickly recently elaborated on a number of his ongoing projects, including his power-violence group United Nations, which features Converge's Ben Koller and Daryl Palumbo of Glassjaw/Head Automatica fame. Here's what he had to say about the latter:
"United Nations has 10 songs recorded. Three of them are still missing bass tracks, and one of the members who has a billion other bands has recorded about half the stuff. So we're pretty close. I think that band will release the record this summer. I hope, at least. It's going really well. We're already ... the first record I going to be a full-length on Eyeball, and then we're already doing a 7-inch on Deathwish."
The Bled are planning to spend the next few months working on new material for their next album which they will likely begin recording late this year. The group plans to embark on both a headlining run as well as some European dates before entering the studio to begin recording the effort.
Yellowcard have announced that they will be going on an indefinite hiatus after their current tour. The band's lead singer Ryan Key said in an interview that they just need some time apart.
The internal feuding that has seen CKY split into two separate factions for the past few months appears to have been put aside as band frontman/guitarist Deron Miller recently made the following announcement:
"ITS OVER the fighting and feuding...is over. we're coming back"
The Mars Volta has already begun work on material for their next two albums. The band just released their current album Bedlam in Goliath in January, but according to Volta's guitarist, Omar Rodríguez-López, the material is already old for the band:
"The Bedlam in Goliath is a year old for me at this point, and it was written a year before that, so, essentially, it's two years old for me," he said. "Whatever people know of us from the new album, it's actually two years behind where I am now. So you have to put your current world in park and go in reverse just to talk about whatever's ‘new.'"
Stone Temple Pilots front-man Scott Weiland has begun work on his new solo album with producer Steve Albini (SOiL, Gasoline Heart). No Doubt drummer Adrian Young will record the drum tracks for the album which is expected to hit stores in November. The Stone Temple Pilots are planning to release a DVD of their April 7 private show at the Houdini mansion in Los Angeles. No word on a possible release date.
He Is Legend have been forced to cancel a number of their previously-planned summer dates and in turn have posted a handful of new demos online as a make good to their fans. Details on the group's cancellations and their progress with their new album can be found here; while the new material itself can be found here.
Unearth have tapped Killswitch Engage's Adam Dutkiewicz to produce their new album which they plan to begin recording in June.
Staind has announced that their upcoming new album will be titled The Illusion Of Progress, with a summer release date expected. The band will hit the road for a tour this summer with 3 Doors Down and Hinder. Staind will open for Nickelback on their fall European tour. Dates include:
September 8th in Cologne, GER @ Arena
September 9th in Stuttgart, GER @ Schleyerhalle
September 12th in Belfast, IRE @ Odyssey
September 13th in Dublin, IRE @ RDS Simmonscourt
September 15th in Manchester, UK @ Arena
September 16th in Sheffield, UK @ Arena
September 18th in Birmingham, UK @ NEC Arena
September 19th in London, UK @ 02 Arena
September 21st in London, UK @ Wembley Arena
Also, front-man Aaron Lewis has plans to begin writing for his solo debut which is expected to be released toward the end of the band's upcoming tour in support of their new album.
Panic At The Disco guitarist Ryan Ross told Billboard that a follow-up to their release of Pretty. Odd. has already begun to take shape.
"We've written a bunch of songs since recording Pretty. Odd," Ross said, adding that "we've probably got about nine or 10 new songs going right now, so I hope that after our tour and all that, we can do another record."
I hope they do because Pretty. Odd. is just god-fucking-terrible.

The Goo Goo Dolls are planning to take a stripped down approach for their next studio album. Front-man John Rzeznik said,
"We're really more of a rock band, which is kind of the approach that we're taking with the new album. That means all of us playing live in the studio and kind of under-producing it. At this point I want to keep it real basic so that the songwriting structure is real strong and the melodies and hooks are really good and then we'll let a producer come in and put his flair on it."
The album is expected to be completed and in stores by the end of the year.
Fuel posted a new update on their MySpace blog:
"Still going here. Sorry to keep everyone in the dark, partly because we're a bit in the dark about what is happening. Trying to get a game plan together. None of us are real happy about the way things went down with the last record. Lots of things are happening to perhaps correct that from the label on down. I'll let you guys know something as soon as I do. Working on direction and other possible maneuvers to try to better our position. It can be frustrating! Hey, but if it's meant to be, it'll work out, right? Just wanna say … once again … thanks for caring and your patience is appreciated. Looks like the Austin show may be rescheduled for May 9th. Hopefully that will happen. Thanks again, Carl."
Having spent the past few weeks working on more new material, the Lostprophets will soon be entering the studio to record their latest output and to finalize their upcoming new album which is expected out later this year.

Korn's usually trying to make as much money as possible on old material, cause the new material doesn't sell for ****. I mean, 24 dollars for a CD with just 14/16 tracks on it? **** That.
Also, revved up for the new Staind CD, and I love the new NIN single.

Both Korn Greatest Hits collections, the one from 2 years back and this new one, are both put out by Epic/Immortal Records, Korns Old label. It's just a way for the label to continue to make $$$ off the Korn name and catalog, since Korn's new stuff is on Virgin Records. Don't blame the band... for these hits cd's anyways.
