1. Nine Inch Nails – The Slip
In case you were living in a box or away from the internet last week, Nine Inch Nails surprised the world and released a moderately unannounced CD that goes by The Slip. It is online for free download in various audio formats over at their official website, www.nin.com. Track listing for The Slip includes:
1. "999,999″
2. "1,000,000″
3. "Letting You"
4. "Discipline"
5. "Echoplex"
6. "Head Down"
7. "Lights in the Sky"
8. "Corona Radiata"
9. "The Four of Us Are Dying"
10. "Demon Seed"
The album will see a physical release in CD and vinyl in July.
Hurt has announced the addition of bassist Rek Mohr, formerly of the band Leo. Mohr replaces Josh Ansley who announced his departure from the band in April.
Korn bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu has a new side project dubbed Stillwell in the works. He plays the majority of the instruments, as well as a bass solo album described as "jazz-fusion".
All That Remains have begun pre-production on their new album with producer Jason Suecof (Chimaira, God Forbid). An update from band frontman Phil Labonte on the matter reads as follows:
"We're in Florida workin on a new RECORD!!! The guys got here on wednesday and we started pre pro. It didn't take long for the stuff to come together. Jason is a great producer and he has had some really great ideas that we tried out and all most every time they worked out wonderfully. It's lookin like it's gonna be 11 new songs. We have a cover in the works but I'm not gonna let the cat out of the bag yet. Don't worry it's a pretty sweet song and it's not some song from the 80's like every other band does. It's a great song that never really got the attention it deserved. So yeah, 11 new ATR originals. Lots of em are kinda short. Which I like cause I have ADD so bad it's crazy. Some stuff is very different from anything we've done before. That makes me pretty happy. We don't wanna be the band that puts out the same disc two or three times in a row. There's some pretty rockin stuff, some heavy stuff, LOTS of solos, and LOTS N LOTS of double bass. We like to keep Jason feeling like he's more of a marathon runner than playing the drums. So yeah, long n short of it the disc is coming together. Late August or early September it should be in stores n on iTunes. Get into it!"
Five Finger Death Punch will be re-releasing their latest album The Way Of The Fist on May 13. The new version of the album features the following three bonus tracks:

Rumors abound that Limp Bizkit are planning a 'comeback tour' of sorts without guitarist Wes Borland in the fold. While nothing official has slipped out as of yet, the band are reportedly auditioning guitarists and are planning to start off with a string of dates in Europe. None of this has been confirmed outside of the band.
Switchfoot front-man Jon Foreman's latest EP, Spring, can be streamed on his MySpace page and purchased via Amazon.com.
Lit have announced that their drummer Allen Shellenberger is currently in the hospital undergoing treatment for a recently discovered brain tumor. The band has been forced to cancel their upcoming UK and Europe dates and is asking for prayers.

Scars On Broadway (System Of A Down) have inked a deal with Interscope for the release of their new self-titled debut which is currently scheduled for a July 29 release date.
God Forbid ran out of time in the studio due to their touring engagements and thus will be returning to the studio following the completion of their touring obligations to continue recording their new album. Band guitarist Doc Coyle had the following to say about the situation:
"So before the tour started, I'm sure many of you know we've been in the studio working on the new album. The album was supposed to go to mix May 1st, but we ran out of time in the studio, and will have to resume recording once this tour is done. Unfortunately, this means the record probably won't come out until fall now, but the quality of the record is the top priority, and we have to put our all into the final product. I can assure you what we have done sounds great, and this really is a different record for us. I think it will surprise people once it's out there. We are playing a new untitled song on the tour, and it seems to be going over great."
The band has been working on the effort with producer Eric Rachel (Atreyu, The Dillinger Escape Plan). In the meantime, their new live DVD outing Beneath The Scars Of Glory And Progression is due out on June 10.
Third Eye Blind will begin recording their new studio album Ursa Major next week. A fall release is expected.
Dashboard Confessional main-man Chris Carrabba informed Rolling Stone that they are currently working on their next studio record, which will be produced by Fountains Of Wayne bassist Adam Schlesinger.
Track listing for Shinedown's new studio album The Sound of Madness has been confirmed. The disc hits stores on June 24 and will include:

2. "Sound of Madness"

Clutch has formed a new label dubbed Weathermaker Music and plan to release both their future albums, and those from their offshoots, through it. The group had the following to say about the venture:
"We have started our own label called Weathermaker Music. Look for ALL future Clutch and Bakerton Group releases on Weathermaker! Look for the first release in late summer 2008---Our first live DVD and a live CD both released the same day! Exact release date to be announced soon."
These Arms Are Snakes have inked a deal with Suicide Squeeze and will release their as-yet untitled new album through the label on October 7. Recording sessions for the outing will begin on May 09th at Seattle, WA's Red Room Recordings with band drummer Chris Common handling the production duties.
Radiohead have spoken out against the upcoming Radiohead: The Best Of disc being released on June 3. In a recent interview with NME front-man Thom Yorke said,
"We haven't really had any hits so what exactly is the purpose? There's nothing we can do about it. The work is really public property now anyway, in my head at least. It's a wasted opportunity in that if we'd been behind it, and we wanted to do it, then it might have been good."
Opeth will release a three disc box set titled The Candlelight Years on June 23.
The Deftones have officially begun recording their new album, the tentatively-titled Eros, with producer Terry Date (Soundgarden, Pantera). Band sampler/programmer Frank Delgado has checked in with the following update on the sessions:
"Well into our first week of recording for the new record, very exciting times indeed. A lot of love, blood, sweat and tears has gone into our studio which has been home for the last 8 or so months. Along with the writing, major revamping has gone into The Spot, and from the sounds of it, it's definitely paying off. All of this work has allowed us to do what we've wanted for the longest time, record a record at our place, on our time, on our dime. Feels so good to be back with Terry and Scotty. Spirits are high (and so is Stef). We're on our way to making the best Deftones record yet!"
