Rock News For All You Newbs

Incubus have decided to go on hiatus of sorts. Here's the deal, according to Billboard.com: Mike Einziger is heading to Harvard's music school to study composition after he debuts an orchestral piece. Brandon Boyd is also heading back to school, stating that he'll be enrolling in a University program. "I'm of the mind to say it wouldn't be a bad thing to disappear for a year or two years," he says. "A lot of people would say culture moves too fast and you need to remind people, but I would argue there's not any rush. Maybe they'll be a sex scandal or an arrest or something to keep us in the news."

Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello has completed work on his next solo effort The Fabled City. The album will be released under his new solo moniker, Tom Morello: The Nightwatchman, on September 30. Produced by Brendan O'Brien (Rage Against The Machine, Stone Temple Pilots), the eleven song effort will feature a guest appearance from System Of A Down frontman Serj Tankian on the track "Lazarus On Down".

In other RATM news, Rage Against The Machine frontman Zack De La Rocha has teamed up with former The Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore in a group dubbed One Day As A Lion. The bands debut self-titled EP will see a release on July 22 and will feature the following track listing:

01 - "Wild International"

Other bands rumored are Megadeth, Rage Against The Machine, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Linkin Park and more.

In addition to reuniting with members from their older line-up's for an upcoming show at The Ottobar in Baltimore, MD on September 12th; Dog Fashion Disco plan to reissue their Day Of The Dead EP in the coming months. The new version of the effort will feature two brand new songs, plus re-recorded bass tracks by former band bassist Stephen Mears and new drum tracks done by drummer John Ensminger.

All That Remains has set September 16 as the release date for their new album Overcome.

Stone Temple Pilots front-man Scott Weiland has set October 7 as the release date for his as-yet-untitled new solo effort.

The film also stars Tony Todd ("Candyman") and Bill Moseley ("The Devil's Rejects"). It is currently seeking distribution.

The release of Default's new album Still Standing is now scheduled for a March 2009 release. The album was originally set to be released this summer, but was delayed when the band's former label, TVT Records, filed for bankruptcy in February.

Becoming The Archetype have parted ways with their guitarist Alex Kenis, who is stepping down from the band to focus on his work with the group Aletheian. In turn Becoming The Archetype have filled his spot with the return of original band guitarist Jon Star and have been writing material together for their next album since this past December.

'Stone Temple Pilots front-man Scott Weiland has set October 7 as the release date for his as-yet-untitled new solo effort.'

Yes, because 12 Bar Blues was a phenominal seller.

I suppose Scott has run out of money for heroin.

He's a great singer and I'll always be an STP fan, but for the love of christ, man - get clean AND STAY CLEAN for once in your life.
