Your Dr. Pepper cometh; Guns N’ Roses’ Chinese Democracy has an official release date. Durst confirms the solidity of Limp Bizkit. Nickelback gets WTF’d again. Cold makes huge announcement. Fall Out Boy featuring Elvis Costello: It’s true. Also, new Megadeth on the way and Dimebag Darrel tribute book. Scars on Broadway done already? Tour dates from Depeche Mode, All That Remains, Iced Earth, more. Full album streams from Unearth, Haste the Day, more.
It is official: Guns N' Roses will release the long-awaited Chinese Democracy exclusively through Best Buy on Sunday, November 23. Yes, Sunday. Here's what I am most excited about, though: my free Dr. Pepper.
Back in April, the soda company told the New York Post they'd send everyone in the U.S. a can of Dr. Pepper if the rock band released the album at any point in the year. With the album scheduled to hit record store shelves on November 23, the company insist they plan to follow-through on their promise. A company spokesman said, "If the rumors are true, we're putting the Dr Pepper on ice."
Man, you couldn't pay for publicity as good as this! The shipping and handling is going to be monsterous, though.
Nine Inch Nails will be parting ways with current drummer Josh Freese later this year following the completion of their North American tour. Trent Reznor had this to say:
On another note, Josh Freese fans be sure to check out a show on the upcoming North American leg of the tour, as sadly they will be the last ones he's playing with us. He informed me he's leaving the tour at the end of this year. Yes, we are still dear friends. No, I'm not sure what we are going to do.
It has always been hard to consider members of Nine Inch Nails to be permanent. I'm not really surprised about this.
It is official: last week, Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst posted a blog on the band's MySpace, speaking on the status of his band. He had this to say:
Hello my dear family members. Yes, it has been a while. But a while worth the wait. It is getting very close to time to drop the bizkit on the universe. I say this with the absolute best intentions and motivation. We, Limp Bizkit, are excited about the future for us and for you. LBF is the way. LBF is for life. Let's stir some shit up my friends.
Most recently, Terry Balsamo (Cold, Evanescence) rejoined Limp Bizkit in place of former guitarist Wes Borland (now head of Black Light Burns). Balsamo was part of Limp Bizkit in the mid-1990's before leaving to join Cold.

Cold and The Killer and the Star checked in with a huge update this week, which includes a Cold reunion tour. This update on Cold comes from one of Scooter Ward's blogs:
The Killer and the Star will open for the Cold reunion tour slated for late February of next year in support of the debut album Living With Musicians which will be released late January-early Feb. 09' on S.W.s' new label SonicStar records. The tour will consist of the original members of COLD for only a limited time because of the other members obligations in other bands. Tour dates will be announced ASAP! The tour will consist of a 6 week trek through the states starting on the east coast and ending in the west. The new COLD ALBUM will be released in the fall of 09..' on SonicStars records followed by the last and final tour for COLD. We thank all of you for the constant support and love throughout the years and will see you guys soon.
Also, along the same vein, the dropping of TKATS will see release through the largest distribution company:
SonicStar records was created by S.W. and Tobius McDonald We are an independent music label that has merged with the largest distribution company in the World giving us major label distribution while maintaining the credibility of an Indie. The team we have put together to run the label are the top people in their fields handpicked by S.W. throughout his 12 year career on major labels(Geffen,Interscope and Atlantic). With the major label industry spiraling downward because of online sales and lack of talent, Ward decided to use his resources he made as the lead singer for the band COLD and the his new project The Killer And The Star to create a a new label that gives the artist more freedom than ever before . SonicStar is also giving the artist the chance to be focused as an individual by keeping the roster small and the level of musicians stellar only. It gives SonicStar a chance to focus on one record and one band at a time instead of 10 or more like the majors have always done. We know that with this strategic mindset we will not fail and will continue to provide top shelf records throughout the world. Thank you all for your support and we hope you enjoy this new and different label for sound called SonicStar records.
Slayer has some surprises in store for the coming months. The band is currently in the studio recording a new song which will be released as an exclusive digital download to those who attend the band's upcoming European "Unholy Alliance: Chapter III Tour" with Trivium, Mastodon and Amon Amarth.
Current tracks from Trivium and Amon Amarth, plus behind the scenes studio footage from Mastodon and a 2007 San Diego, CA live show from Slayer will also be included as part of the digital download package. Meanwhile, Slayer plan to play their entire landmark 1986 album Reign In Blood in its entirety on October 30 at the Hammersmith Apollo in London. The group will also be recording their performance at the same venue on October 31 for an upcoming DVD release documenting the tour.
Fall Out Boy's hotly anticipated album, Folie A Deux, will feature a guest appearance from the Elvis Costello. Costello joins other guests, including Blondie, Lil Wayne and Pharrell. The album is set for release on November 4. Also, Fall Out Boy donated $50,000 to the campaign to fight Proposition 8, a controversial US bill to ban same sex marriage in California after it was legalized there earlier this year. "There are a lot of causes out there - a lot of 'good' fights to be fought," said bassist Pete Wentz. "I think proposition 8 is pretty lame - as many others do too. It's fucking lame."
According to Green Day's fan site "Green Day Authority", Green Day has selected producer Butch Vig to helm the recording of their next full-length. Vig is the drummer for the band Garbage. The Vig rumor comes from an interview with Carson Daly, in which Shirley Manson spills the beans.

Scar Symmetry have added two new singers to their line-up following the recent departure of vocalist Christian Alvestam. Roberth Karlsson will join the band on "lead growl vocals and backing clean vocals" while Lars Palmqvist will handle "lead clean vocals and backing growl vocals". More on their addition to the group can be found here.
According to Billboard, Panic At The Disco is writing "non-stop" during their current tour. Though there are no solid plans to enter the studio to record the thing, the band is aiming for a release of their third full-length in spring or early summer 2009.

Roadrunner Records are preparing to release a live double DVD set for their Roadrunner United concert. This took place in NewYork City back in December of 2005 and celebrated the label's 25th anniversary. The release saw numerous members of its roster, both past and present, teaming up to perform songs together, including members of Slipknot, Machine Head, Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Chimaira, Fear Factory, Biohazard, Vision Of Disorder and many more. Entitled Roadrunner United The Concert, the outing will see a December 9 release.
Hello Demons..Meet Skeletons, the side-project of Sevendust guitarist Clint Lowery, has titled his new solo EP Chills. The six track EP will arrive at iTunes and other digital outlets in mid-November.
Chimaira guitarist Rob Arnold checked in with an update further detailing the band's current progress:
So we're finally at a point where all of the songs for this next record are written, and the four of us (me, matt, andols, and jim), can play them from start to finish. This is one of the first satisfying mile stones in the album creation process. From here things can only get better. The songs will each start taking on a completely different life once Mark starts applying his vocal ideas, and Chris begins making all of the new atmosphere's for the songs to reside in.
The group will begin pre-production on the effort with producer Ben Schigel (Chimaira, Walls Of Jericho) on October 17. Zeuss (Hatebreed, The Autumn Offering) will mix the album, which is slated for an April 28 release.
The soundtrack has been revealed for the upcoming multiplatform videogame "Saints Row 2". There are several radio stations. One of them, the in-game metal radio station, "Krunch", will shape up as follows:

Former Killswitch Engage/current Seemless frontman Jesse Leach has started a new group dubbed Times Of Grace with Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz. An update on the bands progress so far can be found here. I'll probably never find a band in which I particularly like Leach. Howard Jones > Jesse Leach.

As I am sure some of you read this week, Scars On Broadway canceled their commitments. The following statement was issued by the band: "Scars on Broadway's North American tour, scheduled to begin October 19, as well as their October 14 performance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," have been cancelled. Late last week, Malakian concluded that his heart wasn't into touring at this time, so he made the decision to cancel all scheduled performances. There are no plans to reschedule. Ticket refund for the North American Tour will follow shortly."
Daron Malakian elaborated on his decision to cancel: "I've read many of your postings and I owe it to all of you to respond: I understand all of your frustration and anger, and I never meant to let any of you down. Your support for Scars has been so important to me and the band. I would never cancel a tour unless I had real reasons and personal things that require my undivided attention. The music of Scars will live on, but now is a time when aspects of my life need to be tended to. I hope all of you can understand."
Expectedly, rumors of the band breaking up have already begun to surface though have yet to be officially confirmed.

Last week, I jobbed Nickelback'snew single, and it seemed that most of the readers that commented agreed: It's god-fucking-awful. I'm not quite sure where to go from here, with it, and what to expect from the new album. I can say, though, I look forward to wiping my ass with the CD insert.
Well, this week, Nickelback released the track listing for Dark Horse. Some of the tracks look pretty transparent. Here's what it has to offer:
1. "Something In Your Mouth" 2. "Burn It To The Ground" 3. "Gotta Be Somebody" 4. "I'll Come For You" 5. "Next Go Round" 6. "Just To Get High" 7. "Never Gonna Be Alone" 8. "Shakin' Hands" 9. "S.E.X" 10. "If Today Was Your Last Day" 11. "This Afternoon"
The first track there...it really caught my eye. It reminded me that, a while back, I read a few interesting accounts that frontman Chad Kroger could suck his own dick.
The singer learned of his unique skill as a teenager when he was dared to do something outrageous for a case of booze. He told Playboy back in March: "I put my own dick in my mouth. I was 14 and much more flexible at the time.
"It was soft and required a lot of pulling. I really wanted that case of beer."
This is how you remind me of...how much you really suck… dick. Dark Horse is due out on November 18.
Thank yous:
Those go out to Mitch Michaels, Dan Haggerty, and Dan Marsicano for this continued support and my maintained sanity. I'd also like to thank The PRP, Tunelab Music, AbsolutePunk.net, Blabbermouth, Music-News, 411Music News, Billboard, FMQB, the 400 press releases I get a week, and so on and so forth. These wonderful outlets do a fantastic job at reporting, and they have great people running them, as well. Maybe not so much Blabbermouth, but...
