Radiohead vs. Miley, Radio vs. Mad Magazine, Radiohead Radiohead Radiohead, loads of new music from Robert Pollard, some Jeff Buckley releases and more.
The bit at the start
Hello, welcome to the St. Patrick's Day edition of Dancing About Architecture (that's St. Paddy by the way, not St. Patty, what the fuck dudes? Our patron saint isn't one of Marge Simpsons' sisters.) Kind of a big deal here for many people but I'm going to take advantage of my day off and record some music and hope that the riots that took place last year aren't repeated and if they do, don't extend to where I live.
Unlikely as I live in the countryside but you never know. My neighbours look like they'd take up any chance to go hurling bricks.
Beg, borrow, buy, steal or download this album.
The Antlers - Hospice
Beautiful, elegiac, brilliant. Shockingly, it even tops the last record.
You news, you lose
Radiohead.
Whole bunch of Radiohead stuff this week but we'll start with a follow up to last week's story of how Miley Cyrus got her nose bent out of shape over their snubbing of her at the Grammys. A report appeared on MTV last week claiming that the band had told US Weekly (Radiohead talking to us weekly? Emmanuel Eboue scored two goals for Arsenal at the weekend as well. It's opposite world and I think we must surely be approaching the end time.) that "When Miley grows up, she'll learn not to have such a sense of entitlement." Well it turns out that the story isn't precisely true and it was in fact the band's publicist that made the statement.
Yorke did address the issue somewhat though on the band's blog when he wrote "wish us all a safe journey if you still like us and you're not one of those people i have managed to offend by doing nothing xx."
It's all rather silly really.
In real Radiohead news Ed O'Brien last week dropped major hints to the BBC that there might be some exciting developments on the way. He said, "We are working on new material. We'll be doing some more recording. It's business as usual." Which is what you might expect what with them being full time musicians and all but he also said that they'll be touring in the summer and that we should watch this space, "We will be doing a little bit of touring in the summer, watch this space," he said.
No idea on how extensive the touring will be but there are rumours that one of the dates will be Ireland's Electric Picnic Festival at the end of the summer.
Finally, isn't Mad Magazine (even the Mexican version) supposed to be funny?
Buckley retrospective.
To mark the impending 15th anniversary of the release of Jeff Buckley's Grace Columbia/Legacy have announced that on June 2nd they will release a DVD/C set entitled Grace Around The World. Exec-produced by Buckley's mother Mary Guibert features live footage of Buckley singing almost every song from the album in various venues around the world.
The set will include footage from TV appearance in America, Germany, England, Japan and France. Also included some other songs and interviews as a bonus feature. The CD will have audio versions of all the songs on the DVD as well as additional versions of "So Real" and "Grace".
But wait, there's more. The deluxe version of the package will also include Amazing Grace, an hour long documentary.
I still think the definitive Buckley release is the Sin e legacy edition.
Bob Pollard readying new album, in other news the sun will rise tomorrow.
Ex Guided By Voices frontman has already released 2 albums in 2009 (one solo, one with The Crawling distance) and the most prolific man in indie is set to release another couple of things in the coming months.
First up is the new Circus Devils album Gringo. Circus Devils is the band that Pollard is in with Todd and Tim Tobias. The last album by the trio came out in November and Gringo will be out on April 14th. The Tobias bros. made the music for the album and Pollard sang as well as designed the cover art:
After that comes the debut record by Cosmos which features Richard Davis formerly of The Moles and Cardinal. Jar Of Jam Ton Of Bricks sees the pair split vocal duties.

The bit at the end
If anyone reading this is going to SXSW, I hate you. Very much. (Go see the wrens).
For the record, my fave celebs to follow on twitter: Lily Allen, Stephen Fry, Christopher Walken (and I don't care if it's a fake account).
I will admit, I only had a listen to the Cymbals Eat Guitars record because it was named as "Best New Music" by pitchfork but fuck me if it isn't actually really great. I really recommend you give it a listen.
