Linkin Park Wants To Be World's Best Live Band
Posted by Ashish on 06.25.2009
Says Muse currently is...
Linkin Park is vowing to become the best live band in the world. Frontman Chester Bennington told NME.com that he considers Muse to be the best live band, but that Linkin Park will take over the title when they headline the Sonisphere festival on August 1st.
"They're one of the best - if not the best - live performing bands in the world at the moment," he said about Muse, adding "We need to fucking kick some ass."
The singer also singled out Metallica – who headline the second day of Sonisphere on August 2 – as friendly rivals, saying: "I think those kind of bands elevate you as a player. You either need to shoot up and show up or you need to put your tail between your legs and hope you get through it."
Sonisphere will take place at Knebworth and also feature Nine Inch Nails, Bullet For My Valentine, Machine Head and Mastodon. Bennington said that the Knebworth's iconic status makes him feel that the gig is very important for Linkin Park.
"There are definitely shows that either make or break you. And I do think [Sonisphere] could be one of those shows," he revealed. "I know that it's [Knebworth] a legendary venue where legendary acts have played, from Zeppelin to Queen and many, many more. To perform there means you better show up with your kickass pants on."
Linkin Park is also currently recording a new album with producer Rick Rubin.
Well I hope they've improved. I saw them @ the Woodlands in Houston a few years back and they sucked live. My group of people actually left about 4 songs into their set.

Must have been a bad night. I've heard them live and they were great.

I saw Linkin Park live a few years ago and while I wouldn't call them the best live band I've ever seen when they played One Step Closer it was very surreal. I would say being in the crowd when they sang that song was my personal favorite concert moment.

Good luck trying to beat us.

Rick Rubin's producing? Well hopefully, that's a sign that they return to their old style.

Linkin Park and U2 the best live bands ever? The music tastes of you people are a fucking joke.
Posted By: lol (Guest) on June 25, 2009 at 02:18 AM
It just comes down to matter of opinion. Personally I still believe Oasis to be the best live band in the world... they haven't delivered a good album in years and yet sell out 80,000 stadiums around the globe no problem because they guarantee one hell of a show (if they turn up).
It just comes down to taste and what music you like.
I'm not exactly a big U2 fan but I totally agree with the dude who mentioned it earlier they seem to be one hell of a live band.

Even though I am not a big fan I have heard that Tool puts on great shows. Iron Maiden also has great energy live as well.

pearl jam are up there as well

Maybe instead they should shoot for at least being good before going for the title of best ever.
You know, instead of sucking like they do now.

Best live band? Yeah good luck with that chester. They're the least talented band playing that festival.

Muse is definitely one of the best live bands... shoot, just bands period.

I've seen Linkin Park about 10 times now and they've been awesome and they've been horrible. I will agree about Oasis being one of the bands that can attempt to claim the title. I've also gotta say Nickelback puts on one hell of a show.

Always hated U2, never been able to get into them. I have to agree that Muse are incredible live, I saw them a few years ago and it was just amazing. I may get a fair bit of hate for this, but The Darkness were also a great live band when they were together. The two arena tours they did were fantastic, so much fun.

TRIVIUM

personal opinion: A Day To Remember is the best live band i've seen so far. it's like you're actually listening to their CDs. the quality and sound are so good.
Posted By: Thomas (Guest) on June 25, 2009 at 07:31 AM
Rick Rubin did their last album too. They'll never be raw enough to be the best live band in the world.
Posted By: Luke S (Guest) on June 25, 2009 at 08:01 AM
Have to agree with U2 as best live band. Maiden are pretty special too.
Posted By: Nax (Guest) on June 25, 2009 at 08:28 AM
The best live band since probably 2000 has been Pearl Jam, hands down. If we're going single artist, I'll go with Bruce Springsteen, as no matter if he's along, playing with some scrub band, or with the E Street Band, he brings it...usually for hours.
Posted By: tcraven (Guest) on June 25, 2009 at 08:35 AM
Best live band in the world???
Pearl Jam...end of discussion
Posted By: skippy (Guest) on June 25, 2009 at 09:08 AM
U2, Kiss, Alice Cooper, Metallica, and several other all have way better stage shows. Linkin Park...really. You guys have a loooooong way to go.
Posted By: Ace Jones (Guest) on June 25, 2009 at 09:12 AM
1. Muse sucks live or not.
2. Linkin Park LIP SYNCHS live. And they play a music track as well. Why would they think they have a chance?
Posted By: Champ (Guest) on June 25, 2009 at 09:35 AM
Pearl Jam....period
Posted By: Guest#8255 (Guest) on June 25, 2009 at 09:46 AM
Bruce Springsteen and the E street Band is the best live band ever. Period. Linkin Park will never come close. Bands like Pearl Jam and Green Day are the only modern bands who can come close.
Posted By: JB (Guest) on June 25, 2009 at 09:57 AM
NIN is the best line live band ever with Finck back in the band, aside from Rammstein & old Pink Floyd that you'll ever see at night.

Unless they are doing covers of Rock and Roll All Night and Beth it's not going to be the best.

They want to be the best live band in the world? They've got a LONG way to go...
MM

I've seen them live, they are quite good, but they cant match Muse, not by a long shot, they are the current kings of live music.
Posted By: gooched (Guest) on June 25, 2009 at 11:21 AM
sorry Rammstein is definitely the world's best live band.
Posted By: jaked (Guest) on June 25, 2009 at 11:50 AM
I went to see Muse live 3 years ago not expecting to have my mind blown or anything. But, indeed, minds were blown...including mine. Amazing!
Posted By: Paco (Guest) on June 25, 2009 at 11:55 AM
We're S**te dontcha know
Posted By: Bono (Guest) on June 25, 2009 at 12:02 PM
I gotta go with rammstein as the best live show. Great sets, colorful lighting, tons of fire and pyrotechnics, bdsm gear, sexual apparel, etc.

"Linkin Park is also currently recording a new album with producer Rick Rubin."
Ah so it'll suck as bad as Minutes to Midnight then.
Wake me up when you guys go back to your old sound that actually sounded like something unique instead of the horrible generic rock sound of MtM.
Is MtM a decent album? Yes.
Is MtM a decent Linkin Park album? Hell no. It's easily their worst. I'd rather listen to the Hybrid Theory EP.

DOWN is the best live band today.

To be the best live band, you need to first be a good band...

I think, to become the best live band, you have to be a good band in the first place...
Posted By: Drew Robbins (Registered) on June 25, 2009 at 03:52 PM
they need to make good music in order to accomplish that
Posted By: Justin. (Guest) on June 25, 2009 at 05:30 PM
linken park is going to be the worst band in the world. the last song they will play is in the end
