Jackson's memorial could be as big as the moon landing, the JFK assassination and the last episode of "M.A.S.H."...
Thousands are expected to flock to Los Angeles for Michael Jackson's memorial at the Staples Center Tuesday. The media is expecting to be one of, if not the most viewed event of all-time.
"This will obviously be a huge media event, and with Web streams of the funeral, it may be impossible to say for sure how many people watched once all is said and done, because there's still no comprehensive way to measure Web viewing," said Toni Fitzgerald, of Media Life.
"You have to go back to the Beatles, the death of John Lennon perhaps, and the death of Elvis Presley to find a comparable figure in, not just pop music, but pop culture," said Entertainment Weekly's Ken Tucker. "And Jackson so self-consciously turned himself into not just an American pop icon but a global pop icon. I think this does have worldwide implications and interest."
"I expect you'll see very big tune-ins on the cable news networks and on BET, if they cover it; they had huge numbers for their BET Awards focused on Jackson over the weekend," Fitzgerald said. The BET Awards was watched by 10.7 million, the most ever for a cable awards show.
"With the celebrity factor thrown into the funeral, who'll be there, who'll talk, I would guess tens of millions in the U.S. will watch it on TV," she said.

I just hope when Pete Rose dies, they let him into the baseball Hall of Fame, because child molestation is certainly much worse than gambling.
I'm actually disgusted that this freak, with his drug addiction issues and the did-he-or-didn't-he child molestation issues, is suddenly transformed into St. Michael, even though he could've very well voluntarily OD'ed.

Hey Bronze Standard I'm sorry, but were you there when this supposed pedophilia happened? Can you tell me what evidence exists of such events? Cause I'd love to hear all about it. Michael deserves every bit of that praise...he was found NOT guilty once and had no charges pressed on him due to LACK OF EVIDENCE the 1st time around. This is about celebrating the life of a man who brought joy and entertained millions....dare I say BILLIONS the world over. Why dont you wise up and see this for what it is. A once in a lifetime event, the likes of which will never be seen on the planet for the rest of your days.
