Flea & Anthony Kiedis Talk About The New Red Hot Chili Peppers Album
Posted by Mitch Michaels on 08.24.2009

As tipped last month by drummer Chad Smith, the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be getting back together after a two year hiatus soon to record a new album.

"We've decided to write some songs," frontman Anthony Kiedis said. "We imposed a two-year hiatus, which we felt we needed, then we went back to the roundtable and the decision was, ‘Let's do this.' "

"After being kind of burnt at the end of our last tour, I feel major enthusiasm and vigor," bassist Flea said. "Not like a restlessness, but a really healthy excitement. I'm just into it and ready to go forward."

"The seeds are being planted," Kiedis added.

Nothing much about the album is known, but longtime Chili Peppers producer Rick Rubin has been hanging out with the band recently.

Man I'm fuckin sick of people dissin Keidis. He has NEVER been a great lyricyst. He spits out the first thing that comes to his mind. The band and the live show is the attraction with the Peppers. He's said it himself in a Blender interview a few years back. The Chili's rule, that is all.

boy, i hope that this one sounds exactly like every other one...

...oh, who am i kidding, of course it will. RHCP is the largest lego band going these day. honestly, not since Collective Soul has a band had so many interchangeable songs in their library.
