Plus, Kanye West no-shows...
The BET Hip-Hop Awards were held last night in Atlanta. Despite being in prison, T.I. took home two trophies - Best Collaboration ("Live Your Live" with Rihanna) and Album of the Year (Paper Trail).
Tip's fiancee Tameka Cottle accepted his awards and read a statement from him: "Although I'm not there with you all, I'm there in spirit. My road to redemption is almost over... Thanks for the support."
Elsewhere, DJ AM was handed a posthumous DJ of the Year award, Jay-Z took home MVP of the Year and Drake was awarded Rookie of the Year. Ice Cube took home an "I Am Hip-Hop" Icon Award.
"When you get recognized by your peers for a life of work, you got to be humbled," Ice Cube said. "I'm honored by this. I have 20 more years of work left in me. I hope [BET] is ready to give out two of these awards."
Kanye West was expected but did not show up at the awards. For performances, Jay-Z and Young Jeezy did "Real As It Gets", while Goodie Mob performed "Cell Therapy".
Smart move Kanye, award shows don't work out for you too well.

I have never heard T.I. called Tip in the national media before the Behind The Music special aired and he said that's what his friends and family call him. So now you're friends with him? You know him in "real life"
My point remains the same whether it was Billboard or Mitch Michaels who wrote the above news item...
