Paul Anka gets 50% of song rights...
UPDATE: Talk about a good day for Paul Anka. The special administrators of Michael Jackson's estate have agreed to give him 50% of the publishing rights for "This Is It." Jackson's estate acknowledged, after Anka came out with the claim, that Anka had co-written the song.
ORIGINAL: Michael Jackson's new song, "This Is It," just hit the 'net today, but things are already off to a rocky start. Paul Anka tells TMZ that Jackson stole the song from him back in 1983. He says that he and Jackson did a song together called "I Never Heard" and that the song was recorded at Anka's studio in Carmel, CA. According to Anka, Jackson eventually got a big head and stole the tapes from the studio. After Anka threatened to sue, Jackson returned the tapes, but Anka suspected that he made copies.
And now, Anka says that "This Is It" is simply "I Never Heard" with a new title.
Anka says that now that the song has been released after much hype, they are offering him whatever he wants to try and not make a big deal about this. Even Jackson's lawyer, John Branca, has acknowledged that Jackson and Anka wrote the song together. Anka says he doesn't want anything except for Jackson's estate to be "fair." That usually means a lot of money.
how can he steal songs, i thought he was dead. i thought the media made that clear for the entire summer.

Why steal a song in 1983 and make a song of it 26 years later

Oh no. Now Michael Jackson will always be known as "Michael Jackson- the song stealer." Sure, he'll still also be known for methodically seducing and molesting a string of young boys, but song stealing is still worse. Is Paul Anka really the victim? I think the media needs to look at this from a different point of view, and see who the true victims are. The victims could very well be the children.
