Axl Rose Sells Out?
Posted by Ashish on 10.19.2009
Classic Guns N' Roses tracks to be featured on baby album...
Classic Guns N' Roses tracks like "Welcome to the Jungle" and "Sweet Child O' Mine" are set to be turned into lullabies for the upcoming Rockabye Baby album. Slash's guitar solos and Axl Rose's vocals will be replaced with harps, bells, and xylophones.
Gotta wonder how much Axl is getting for this. You guys think he's selling out or it's just business?
Sell out... interesting concept. What does one have to do to "sell out"? Is it making money from your creation? Cause that ship has already sailed. Anybody who makes anything and profits from it is selling out. Even artsy douches who believe that they are making art (then encoding it on plastic disks, sticking it in a cardboard cover and wrapping it in 100% recycled plastic wrap for consumption for the masses.)

This is better than letting Sheryl Crow sing his song. That was AWFUL.

A lot of great bands are featured in the Rockabye Baby series. He's not selling out.

Would you take the money? I sure as heck would.

The difference between a sell out and a non-sell out is that a sell out has something of value that others want.

You know where you are? You in the crib, baby! You gonna sleeeeeeeeep!

How would Welcome to the Jungle work as a lullaby, I don't think of babies sleeping when I hear "I'm gonna watch you bleed"

Ummm..Im not sure you even need axl's permission to do something like this....

Hey, nothing wrong with that. I acually have a few of these CDs for my baby girl.

Umm, Rockabye Baby is an album series, and Guns N' Roses wasn't the only band to be covered through baby lullabies. Nirvana, Radiohead, The Cure, Metallica, and Tool have been covered by Rockabye Baby.
Nothing sensational here, just a clever idea of turning rock songs into lullabies (I've heard a few, they're actually pretty cool).

I think it sounds like a beautifully cute thing tro do and what´s wrong with buisness? It is always a buy and sell situation. Nothing is for free.

business, reaching out to the youngn's

honestly, basically every other big band has one of these; like zeppelin, nirvana, and even tool

I'd just like to see how hey manage to turn Welcome To The Jungle into a lullaby

Are they gonna turn Mr.Brownstone into a lullaby as well?

Coming next on Rockabye baby...Insane Clown Posse!!!

There was a string quartet version of "Welcome..." back in around 1991. This is hardly the first time there's been mellow reworkings of their songs.
And it's better than those industrial metal tributes!

Guest#5221 hit it spot on, which is a shame because I love making fun of Axl, but this is not a new idea and is not selling out.

Its funny...I remember years ago SNL did a parody of metal bands doing nursery rhymes "Kiddie Metal". From what I remember Adam Sandler did a great impression of Axl Rose. Low and behold...the prophesy comes true.

The Tool one is bad-ass. Sounds like Halloween music, actually. Best stuff I play for my son.

I think it's actually a very cool idea. As long as the original artist is on board, I hope this becomes a trendsetter
I know two little girls who will find this in their stocking if it comes out before Xmas.

Axl Rose sold out 17 odd fucking years ago!!
Posted By: Guest#9509 (Guest) on October 19, 2009 at 11:03 PM
Axl owns the band name but does not own sole rights to the music. The whole band has to sign off on things like this. Remember the huge battle between band members to get Jungle used in Black Hawk Down? So this story should not be aimed at only Axl. Slash, Duff, Izzy, etc would also have to sign on.

It'd be nice if the knee-jerk reactionary vibe from the title was edited. There's obviously no evidence of "selling out" here, and it's kinda hard to poke fun at Axl when even Tool has a lullaby cover album.

This is a BRILLANT! idea. what parents wouldn't want to listen to their favorite bands that now is appropriate for the kiddies too? (btw, this is instrumental, so you won't hear "I'm gonna watch you bleed"....Kudos to them!

Sold out? Guess you don't have kids or if you do you must love Rafi? Thanks Axl!!! (Great liner notes!)

Place a rose in front of the headstone that reads "Rock and Roll".
Posted By: Vallejo (Guest) on October 20, 2009 at 08:40 PM
i love this idea! why does children's music have to be droll? this series makes it actually bearable to babysit, trust me. Bring it on, Axl

The Rockabye Baby series isn't that bad really. Got the Green Day and Metallica ones for my year and a half old. It's just the melodies and instrumentals that are involved, no lyrics. Actually I've wanted to find the Floyd and Zeppelin ones, now I'll have another to throw on that llst!
