Bill Cosby has enlisted guest artists and community activists such as Jace the Great, Brother Hahz and Supa Nova Slom for Bill Cosby Presents the Cosnarati: State of Emergency, a socially conscious hip-hop CD that focuses on the critical issues affecting young people. Frustration, incarceration and respect for females are among the tracks' themes.
The project launched in the form of a "virtual town hall" hosted by Cosby (which can be seen on his Facebook page) on October 19. Sevedral songs are available at digital retailers starting today (October 20); the album's physical and digital release is November 24.
Emergency is the aural companion to "Come On People," the 2007 book co-authored by Cosby and Dr. Alvin F. Poussaint. The album, which Cosby himself does not perform or rap on, is produced by Cosby's longtime musical colleague William "Spaceman" Patterson.
